    Abstract: 2-OR-4-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid wherein R is phosphonoxy.The compounds are useful in the treatment of pathological cardiovascular conditions, particularly in the prophylaxis of the thromboembolic diseases.The compounds are made by reacting m-trifluoromethyl phenol with potassium carbonate and carbon dioxide at an elevated temperature and pressure and, reacting the 2-OH compound with a phosphonating agent.The invention also embraces pharmaceutical compositions in which the compounds constitute the effective agent and a method of treatment.
