  • Patent number: 7412879
Abstract: A method for monitoring deformations in a tire of a vehicle wheel, the wheel including the tire and a rim, the method including: providing the wheel with at least two magnetic-field emitters mutually disposed so as to yield a composite magnetic field having one or more space portions where at least one component of the composite magnetic field is substantially null; disposing at least one main magnetic-field sensor substantially in one of the one or more space portions; monitoring variation of the at least one component of the composite magnetic field; and correlating the variation with tire deformations. At least one of the magnetic-field emitters is disposed in contact with the tire. A system for monitoring deformations in a tire of a vehicle wheel includes the wheel, the at least two magnetic-field emitters, and the at least one main magnetic-field sensor.

  • Publication number: 20070292644
Abstract: A process for producing a composite material includes the following steps: (a) melting at least one polyester having an inherent viscosity higher than or equal to 0.5 dl/g, preferably 0.6 dl/g to 1.2 dg/l; (b) cooling said polyester so as to obtain a polyester having a crystallinity lower than 30%, preferably 1% to 20%; and (c) mixing at least one layered clay material with the polyester obtained in step (b) so as to obtain the composite material. The composite material is particularly useful for manufacturing food or beverage containers, in particular bottles.

  • Publication number: 20060042366
Abstract: A temperature indicator includes at least one reactive substance and at least one dye substance. The at least one reactive substance has a threshold temperature and the at least one dye substance has at least one characteristic peak in its absorption or emission spectrum. When an excess temperature is reached in the tire, the at least one reactive substance is heated above the threshold temperature and reacts with the at least one dye substance so as to modify the at least one characteristic peak. A related pneumatic tire includes at least one such temperature indicator.

  • Publication number: 20050226581
Abstract: Optical fibre having a glass portion and at least one coating of crosslinked polymer material surrounding the glass portion, the coating being obtained by crosslinking a mixture of at least one crosslinkable liquid composition having at least one oligomer containing at least one reactive functional group, at least one diluent monomer capable of reacting with the reactive functional group and at least one photo-initiator; at least one inorganic material with lamellar structure formed by a plurality of lamellae that have been surface-treated beforehand with a compatibilizer. The coating is formed by the crosslinked liquid composition intercalated between the lamellae of the inorganic material. Preferably, the coating is a secondary coating or, in the case of a ribbon of optical fibres, it is a common polymer coating known as a “common coating.

  • Patent number: 6740396
Abstract: A cable comprising at least one conductor and at least one coating layer based on a composite material comprising: at least one polymer containing a predetermined quantity of polar groups; and at least one inorganic material with lamellar structure surface-treated with a predetermined quantity of a compatibilizer; in which said predetermined quantity of polar groups and said predetermined quantity of compatibilizer are selected in such a way that said inorganic material exhibits, in the composite material, a d-spacing value in X-ray diffraction analysis at least 20% higher with respect to the d-spacing value of the inorganic material as such.
