  • Publication number: 20140051174
Abstract: A microfluidic device for mitochondria analysis includes an inlet coupled to a first access channel, an outlet coupled to a second access channel, and a plurality of trapping channels fluidically coupled at one end to the first access channel and fluidically coupled at an opposing end to the second access channel, each trapping channel comprises a cross-sectional dimension about 2 ?m in one direction and a cross-sectional dimension between about 0.45 and about 0.75 ?m in a second direction.

  • Publication number: 20130314200
Abstract: The magnetic component structures of this invention provides an improved magnetic core and winding arrangement which increases the inductive coupling between the primary and the secondary part compared to a similar single cell structure. A new and innovating wireless power transfer magnetic structure is provided that increases the efficiency of the wireless power transfer by means of increased inductive coupling. Another advantage of these structures is low susceptibility to misalignment errors. The invention comprises two or more identically structural units named cells. The magnetic structure is made of magnetically permeable material and consists of two identical parts, the primary side and the secondary side, that are separated by a large air gap or any other electrically or magnetically nonconductive material. The two identical parts compose the wireless transformer. The transformer includes also copper wire winded around specific areas of the magnetic structure.

  • Publication number: 20130314188
Abstract: New and Useful magnetic structures are provided. One feature of the magnetic structures is that they are configured to help minimize the air gap reluctance, improving the magnetic structure's coupling coefficient. Another feature is that reducing the windings AC impedance of a magnetic structure is produced by shielding the winding under ears formed of magnetic material. Still another feature is that leakage inductance of a magnetic structure is reduced, by making ears with cuts which converge toward the magnetic rods that are used in the formation of the structure.

  • Publication number: 20130314197
Abstract: Several new and useful features for a magnetic structure are provided. One feature is that the magnetic structures are configured to help minimize the winding's AC losses, improving the system's efficiency. Another feature is that the combination of different magnetic hats creates a shaping path for the magnetic field. Still another feature is that a magnetic hat concept can be applied to a variety of magnetic core shapes.

  • Publication number: 20130307559
Abstract: A new method of extracting information from a current waveform for the purpose of controlling a resonant converter is presented. The information could also be used for the purpose predicting the inductance and load of a circuit to indicate alignment in a inductive charging system.

  • Publication number: 20120247980
Abstract: A microfluidic sensor device includes a substrate having patterned thereon at least one Ag/AgCl electrode (working electrode) and an inner chamber overlying the at least one Ag/AgCl electrode. The device includes an ion selective permeable membrane permeable to TPP+ disposed on one side of the first chamber and a sensing chamber overlying the ion selective permeable membrane. A separate reference electrode is inserted into the sensing chamber. The working electrode and reference electrode are coupled to a voltmeter to measure voltage. This voltage can then be translated into a TPP+ concentration which is used to determine the mitochondrial membrane potential (??m).

  • Patent number: 6515459
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling start up of supply voltages received from a power supply responding to control by a feedback signal includes: (a) first error amplifiers receiving a supply voltage at a first terminal, receiving a reference voltage at a second terminal and providing a first error signal to a switch indicating difference between the signals at the terminals; and (b) second error amplifiers having a first node coupled with the switch and for receiving the supply voltage and a second node receiving a reference voltage; the first node receives a sum of the first error signal and the supply voltage when the switch is in a first orientation, and receives the supply voltage when the switch is in a second orientation; each second error amplifier provides a second error signal indicating a difference between signals received at the nodes that is the feedback signal for controlling the power supply.
