  • Publication number: 20120060361
Abstract: Disclosed is a housings for lithium based batteries, suitable for large format batteries, and a method of manufacturing such housings using direct electroplating resin technology. The housing, while maintaining stack pressure and acting as a moisture and electrolyte barrier, is lighter in weight, smaller in volume, and is safer than conventional metal housings. The manufacturing process is well suited for automation and is less expensive than current manufacturing processes.

  • Patent number: 7759143
Abstract: A system for separating ICs, including a controller, a fixture and a support material supply. The fixture is coupled to a stretchable substrate and the stretchable substrate has a diced semiconductor wafer secured thereto. The diced semiconductor wafer including the plurality of ICs. The fixture being capable of stretching the stretchable substrate so as to form a corresponding plurality of spaces between each of the plurality of ICs.

  • Patent number: 7517725
Abstract: A method of separating an IC. The method includes dicing a semiconductor wafer. The semiconductor wafer includes multiple ICs. The diced wafer is secured to a stretchable substrate. The stretchable substrate can be stretched so as to form corresponding spaces between each of the ICs. The corresponding spaces are filled with a support material. A system for separating ICs on a semiconductor wafer is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6779560
Abstract: A multiport valve comprising a casing having at least one fluid inlet port and at least one fluid outlet port, a seal disposed adjacent to each outlet port, a cylinder disposed within a central opening in the casing and having an axial channel with a channel surface and at least one depression within the channel and balls biased toward the cylinder and away from each outlet port. Rotating the cylinder such that the depression aligns with the ball forces the biased ball into the depression and away from the seal opening the outlet port allowing for fluid flow therethrough and rotating the cylinder such that the depression is misaligned with respect to the depression causes the channel surface to overcome the bias and force the ball against the seal thus closing the outlet port. The multiport valve may include a bearing assembly disposed between the valve casing and cylinder and a ball biasing member angled to point towards the cylinder and bearing assembly, providing for ease in rotation of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6007632
Abstract: A system for infiltrating, with active materials, a porous substrate to form electrodes, typically used for batteries, is described that features a vacuum device having a dynamic distribution assembly which allows for continuous and controlled deposition of electrochemical active materials onto a substrate, as the substrate moves therethrough, while preventing the active materials from leaving the vacuum chamber before infiltrating the substrate. The vacuum device includes a vacuum chamber, in fluid communication with a supply of active materials, and a vacuum pump, disposed within the vacuum chamber. The vacuum chamber includes an inlet and an outlet, positioned opposite to the inlet. The first and second opposed major surfaces and a plurality of voids extend therebetween. While disposed within the vacuum chamber, the vacuum pump creates a pressure differential between the first and second surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5562255
Abstract: A tire-shearing machine capable of varying the size of tire chunks segmented. A primary shear segments a tire, along a longitudinal axis, into a plurality of longitudinal strips and feeds the strips into a secondary shear. The secondary shear segments, along an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, each of the longitudinal strips into a plurality of chunks. The speed of each of the shears is controlled independently of the other, and on-the-fly, to allow producing tire chunks to a desired size.
