  • Publication number: 20150059663
Abstract: A cooling system for a machine system is disclosed herein. The machine system includes an internal combustion engine, a plurality of heat generating systems, an energy recovery system, and a cooling system. The energy recovery system is adapted to produce an electrical output and includes a condenser to condense a working fluid that circulates within the machine. The cooling system includes a plurality of fans, a condenser fan, and a control unit. The plurality of fans and the condenser fan are powered by the electrical output. The fans are adapted to cool the heat generating systems. The condenser fan is adapted to cool the condenser. The control unit is adapted to selectively control each of the plurality of fans, based on load requirements of the corresponding heat generating system. Therefore, the control unit optimizes and maximizes heat transfer by the condenser fan to the working fluid.

  • Publication number: 20140261257
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a cooling system having a coolant delivery matrix, such as for providing a two phase (vapour) cooling system for the engine. The coolant delivery matrix is configured for location in a cylinder block of an engine housing of the internal combustion engine. The coolant delivery matrix includes a manifold and a plurality of pipes extending from the manifold. The coolant delivery matrix is further configured to locate around at least one cylinder in the cylinder block, and each of the plurality of pipes has at least one aperture being directed to spray liquid coolant at a wall of the at least one cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20070186896
Abstract: A motor vehicle 5 is disclosed having an engine 10 used to drive a number of ancillary devices 12, 14, 16 and 18 via an ancillary drive 11. An electronically controlled disengageable connection 21 is provided to selectively disengage the drive from the engine 10 to the ancillary drive 11 when a high power output is required from the engine 10 to drive the motor vehicle 5. When the ancillary drive 11 is disengaged a source of motive power 12 is used to power the ancillary devices 14, 16 and 18 so as to maintain their operation.
