The method includes comparing a received image from the system under test with one or more existing reference images to identify an expected image. If the expected image is not identified, the method further includes obtaining metadata for the expected image, using a processing device to create a new reference image using, at least, the said metadata, storing the new reference image using a storage device, updating the test description using the new reference image, and utilizing the updated test description in a further automated computer test.
