  • Patent number: 9539778
Abstract: A pneumatic tire and a process to retread a tire is provided. The retreaded tire has a carcass and a crown region, wherein the crown region comprises a belt reinforcement structure located between the carcass and a tread. The retreaded tire further comprises a cementless cushion layer located radially outward of said belt reinforcement structure, and one or more reinforcement plies located radially outward of the cementless cushion layer. The one or more reinforcement plies is formed from a substantially continuous strip of reinforced elastomer which is wound from one side of the crown to the other side in a substantially continuous manner. The reinforcement ply may be formed from spirally winding the strip about the carcass, or one or more reinforcement plies may be formed from winding the strip about the carcass in a zigzag pattern.

  • Publication number: 20050194076
Abstract: A pneumatic tire having a carcass and a crown region is disclosed, the crown region comprising a crown reinforcement structure and a tread portion with a radially inner side and a tread on its radially outer side. The crown reinforcement structure is located between the tread portion and the carcass and comprises a plurality of adjacent cord reinforced strips. The cord reinforced strips are in direct contact either with the inner side of the tread portion or are separated from the tread portion only by a rubber cushion layer. A process to manufacture such a tire comprises the steps of: (1) preparing an assembly with a carcass, a green tread reinforcing rubberized ply layer applied radially upside of the carcass, and a green tread portion applied onto the green tread reinforcing rubberized ply layer, and (2) transferring the assembly into the pneumatic tire by curing.

  • Patent number: 4526267
Abstract: Completed, shaped and uncured tires are placed on an inclined chute having a gate mechanism for automatically transferring one tire to a tire carrier while the other tires are retained in the chute. The tire carrier raises and rotates the tire to an upper position for movement of a conveyor hook through a central aperture of the tire and into engagement with one side of the tire to move it out of the carrier into a supported position on the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4095731
Abstract: Guiding of narrow strip components of yieldable material is accomplished by applying a gentle drag to the strip which is greater near its edge more distant from the guide line or plane than in the strip closer to such guide line or plane. The drag is applied by positioning soft bristle brushes in an apparatus in a guide frame one sidewall of which provides the guide plane while the strip is continuously supported on a floor plate perpendicular to the plane. The strip can be supported by an air film introduced between the strip and the floor of the guide frame. A simple mechanism for swinging the brushes into and out of operating position is also disclosed. The foregoing abstract is not to be taken as limiting the invention of this application, and in order to understand the full nature and extent of the technical disclosure of this application, reference must be made to the accompanying drawing and the following detailed description.
