  • Patent number: 5477650
Abstract: An edging strip of relatively shallow construction is provided which is characterized by an interlocking mechanism comprising a housing strip (2) which is "U" shaped, one sidewall (17) of which is higher than the other sidewall (18) by an amount substantially equal to or greater than the thickness of the floorcovering, and an insert strip (3) which is "L" shaped, the horizontal limb (19) being adapted to fit within the housing strip groove (20) with its upper surface level with or higher than the housing sidewall (18) with its vertical limb (22) adjacent the housing sidewall (17) and of equal height. Co-operating projections (24) and mating recesses (25) are provided in the insert and housing strips which lie in a horizontal plane. Preferably, the housing sidewall (17) is inclined so as to flex and thereby facilitate fixing the insert strip by pressing down along its length to snap fit into the housing strip (2).

  • Patent number: 5339586
Abstract: The invention relates to edging strips for fixing floorcoverings, which are particularly suitable for use as dividers between adjacent floor areas. The edging strip comprises interfitting housing and insert strips, the housing strip fitting within the floor surface and presenting an upper edge portion flush with the surface of the floorcovering and the insert strip providing a recessed upper surface to which the underside of the floorcovering edge is fixed, co-operating interlocking projections and recesses being provided whereby the insert strip fixedly locates on the housing strip by pressing down along the length of the insert strip. The insert strip has a locking projection along one edge for engaging in a co-operating recess in the housing strip and a resilient tongue along its other edge projecting downwardly for engaging in a further co-operating recess in the housing strip. The tongue has a locking projection for catching behind a co-operating locking projection in said further recess.

  • Patent number: 4637752
Abstract: A manhole access cover comprises a removable cover member which fits within an outer frame, the cover member comprising an inner frame with an appropriate filling (44). Each of the inner and outer frames are fabricated from a plurality of lengths of angle-sectioned members (1, 21) mitred at their ends and joined to each other at the corners of the frame so that the frame comprises a substantially vertical wall formed from vertical (3, 33) limbs of the frame members and a substantially horizontal ledge extending inwardly from the vertical wall and formed from horizontal limbs (2, 22) of the frame members. The joint at each corner includes an angular corner member (9) extending around the corner on the vertical wall and to which the angle-sectioned members are crimped by piercing metal out of the angle-sectioned members (15) and crimping it into the corner members.
