  • Publication number: 20060227003
Abstract: This invention provides a light emitting array apparatus for use in a video screen display or lighting device incorporating a panel having a plurality of LEDs. Such a panel provides a plurality of LEDs on the front face of the panel in close thermal proximity to the panel. Typically this would include LEDs mounted to a PCB that is then affixed to the panel such that heat may transfer from the LEDs into the support panel itself. The support panel can disperse the heat throughout the panel and the to the surrounding air, especially from the front face of the panel. Such a construction may alleviate the need for fans or other cooling apparatus behind the panel and allow for the panel to be fitted directly to a supporting wall or other structure and also reduce cost and bulk of construction.

  • Publication number: 20060139945
Abstract: A display panel for a flat panel display includes a planar array of LCD devices and a planar array of LED devices that is closely spaced apart from the planar array of LCD devices, at least some of the LED devices being disposed within a periphery of the array of LCD devices such that, in operation, the planar array of LED devices provides backlighting for the planar array of LCD devices. The planar array of LED devices can include at least one solid metal block having first and second opposing metal faces. The first metal face includes therein an array of reflector cavities, and the second metal face includes therein heat sink fins that are exposed at the back face of the flat panel display.

  • Publication number: 20020190972
Abstract: This invention relates to a method or apparatus for provision of display screens. Display screens used in remote locations such as those as may be used for billboards etc. run the risk of tampering or interference with the data supplied to the screens for display. This may particularly be preferment with billboards controlled by the worldwide web. The invention sets out methods of verifying the content to be displayed on the screen including checking the incoming data feed or checking the actual image displayed on the screen. In addition, the invention provides various methods of monitoring the performance of the screen to verify the images being displayed and to adjust for degradation of display components or otherwise monitor the performance of the display.
