  • Publication number: 20140337408
Abstract: Systems, methods and media are provided for minimizing data downloads. One method includes providing a virtual view of a list of files remotely stored in a cloud storage server. The method also includes detecting a user request for file data associated with a file selected from the virtual view and inspecting a local cache associated with the selected file to determine whether the requested file data already exists in the cache. The method further includes displaying the file data from the cache when it is determined that the cache already includes the file data. When it is determined that the cache does not include the file data, the method also includes generating a client request for the file data, sending it to the server, receiving the requested file data from the server, updating the cache using the file data received from the server; and displaying the requested file data.

  • Publication number: 20140281875
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing collaborative annotation of documents. In one embodiment, a computerized method is disclosed for providing collaborative annotation of documents that can include receiving, at a first computer, a first annotation from a first user for an original file; storing the first annotation to a first layer file; uploading the first layer file to a cloud storage server; receiving, at the first computer from the cloud storage server, a second layer file created by a second user; retrieving a second annotation from the second layer file; and concurrently displaying the original file together with the first annotation and the second annotation by overlaying the first annotation and the second annotation over the original file.

  • Publication number: 20140137273
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a system and method to prevent a user from copying and storing files on a third party storage device or a user's personal computer. To do this, the system and method may perform a process of connecting the authorized user to the company's computer storage to access computer files for modification and, if the authorized user attempts to copy the file to the user's computer or a third party storage site, determining whether the file should be copied. To determine whether the file should be copied, the system may use inspection modules that inspect the data files to determine whether or not the user has been restricted from copying the data file.

  • Publication number: 20130232187
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing data in a networked communication system. In particular, certain embodiments of the disclosed subject matter include an apparatus having a processor configured to run a module stored in memory that is configured to receive a first data request requesting the apparatus to provide contents of a data file, to determine that the data file is associated with a remote data file at the server, and based on the determination, to send a second data request to the server to provide the data file to the apparatus, and to receive a response to the second data request from the server, the response including the contents of the data file.
