Patent number: 11618647Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided an elevator car parking brake comprising a brake carrier having a first plate and a second plate, the plates being spaced from each other and positioned to enable a guide rail to travel within the space between the plates, a caliper movably connected to the brake carrier, brake pads, and an actuator configured to move the brake pads against a guide rail in a braking operation. The elevator car parking brake further comprises at least one first compression spring arranged between the first plate of the brake carrier and a brake pad directly associated with the actuator; and at least one second compression spring arranged between the second plate of the brake carrier and the caliper, the first and second compression springs being configured to keep the brake pads substantially centered with respect to the brake carrier.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2019Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: Kone CorporationInventors: Antti Koskinen, Antti I Maki, Jukka Turpeinen, Hilkka Hamalainen, Antti Saarelainen, Henri Wenlin, Mikko Puranen, Timo Vlasov, Jukka Penttila, Jorma Sarkkinen

Publication number: 20230032978Abstract: An apparatus for actuating a safety gear of an elevator includes a first stage actuation mechanism; and a second stage actuation mechanism. The second stage actuation mechanism includes a wedge arrangement configured to grip a guiderail associated with the elevator when the first stage actuation mechanism is triggered; a casing including the wedge arrangement and configured for vertical linear movement along the guiderail; and a transmission member coupled to the casing from a first end and to the safety gear from a second end. The apparatus is configured to cause the safety gear to actuate when the first stage actuation mechanism is triggered, the first stage actuation mechanism causing the wedge arrangement of the second stage actuation mechanism to grip the guiderail of the elevator and to decelerate vertical movement of the casing in relation to the guiderail, the deceleration of the casing causing the transmission member to engage the safety gear to the guiderail to stop the elevator.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2022Publication date: February 2, 2023Applicant: KONE CorporationInventors: Antti Koskinen, Petri Hartikainen, Pekka Hallikainen, Antti I Mäki

Patent number: 11459208Abstract: The system comprises a synchronization shaft rotatably supported on an elevator car frame, the synchronization shaft being operatively connected to at least one safety gear, a lever attached to the synchronization shaft, an electromagnet operatively connected to the lever, spring means operatively connected to the synchronization shaft, and resetting means operatively connected to the synchronization shaft. Deactivation of the electromagnet releases the lever allowing the spring means to rotate the synchronization shaft from a first position to a second position in which the safety gear is activated. Activation of the resetting means rotates the synchronization shaft from the second position to the first position in which the safety gear is deactivated and the spring means is brought back to the excited state at the same time.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2019Date of Patent: October 4, 2022Assignee: Kone CorporationInventors: Pekka Hallikainen, Antti I Maki, Antti Koskinen, Petri Hartikainen

Patent number: 11427436Abstract: A resetting device for resetting an actuator for actuating a safety gear of an elevator includes an actuation spring to be brought into a compressed state by a resetting force, an electric motor for providing the resetting force and a transmission for transmitting the resetting force of the electric motor to the actuation spring. The transmission provides a positive gear ratio.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2019Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Antti Koskinen, Pekka Hallikainen, Antti I. Mäki, Petri Hartikainen

Patent number: 10773923Abstract: In the technical field of elevator systems, so as to provide a measure for preventing an overspeed governor rope inertia from unwantedly engaging a safety gear in an overspeed governor system, which has a governor rope connected to a moving mass of the elevator system, a machinery brake for decelerating the moving mass so as to perform a quick stop of the moving mass, a safety gear mounted to the moving mass, a synchronization linkage for tripping the safety gear and a synchronization linkage blocking device for blocking the synchronization linkage and/or a governor brake for braking the governor rope, it is determined whether a quick stop of the moving mass is performed, and the governor brake or the synchronization linkage blocking device is activated when the quick stop of the moving mass is performed.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2017Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Mikko Puranen, Riku Lampinen, Jarkko Saloranta, Antti I Mäki, Jukka Turpeinen, Samuli Mäntynen
