  • Publication number: 20090322273
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for controlling a three-or-more-phase motor driven by a frequency converter. In the method, a change-over switch of the frequency converter is controlled to a continuously conducting state and at the same time the phase voltages or phase currents of the other phases are controlled by switching the change-over switches in those motor phases at a switching frequency substantially higher than the frequency of the fundamental wave of the phase voltage or phase current. The apparatus comprises in conjunction with the frequency converter a number of change-over switches, at least one change-over switch for each motor phase. The change-over switches comprise controllable change-over contacts. The apparatus further comprises in conjunction with the frequency converter means for determining the motor phase currents and means for controlling the change-over contacts.

  • Publication number: 20090167218
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for braking a synchronous motor (4) used with a frequency converter (2). The braking current of the motor (4) is controlled by connecting only the negative changeover contacts (10) of the inverter (16) of the frequency converter (2) or alternatively by connecting only the positive changeover contacts (17) of the inverter (16) of the frequency converter. The arrangement comprises a control (3), which is arranged to control in a braking situation only the negative changeover contacts (10) of the frequency converter (2) or alternatively only the positive changeover contacts (17) of the frequency converter (2).

  • Patent number: 7121385
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for adjustment of the rotor angle of an elevator motor (M), in which method: the rotor angle of the elevator motor is measured, the rotor angle is adjusted by using the measured rotor angle value as feedback data, and the rotor angle is measured by a pulse emitter (PE) or tachometer connected to the elevator motor. In the method, a disturbance signal (u) is fed into the rotor angle feedback data to produce a change (disturbance) in the rotor angle, the change (disturbance) is compared to the disturbance signal (u), and, on the basis of the comparison, a control signal is generated to adjust the rotor angle.

  • Patent number: 6305501
Abstract: A drive system for an elevator includes a drive machine by means of which the for moving and supporting an elevator car. The primary circuit of a linear motor is permanently fitted to a wall of a building while its secondary circuit is fitted in conjunction with the elevator car and moves with the elevator car. Pressurized air is supplied between the primary and secondary circuits of the reluctance-type linear motor to maintain an air gap between them.
