Patent number: 10951859Abstract: A first device is disclosed, which is located at a first site and in communication with a second device located at a second site geographically separated from the first site. The first device includes a controller configured to automatically control selection of a view defining an area of the second site to be displayed by the first device. The controller automatically selects the view based on a display configuration of the first device. The controller is also configured to automatically control selection of a sound of the second site to be rendered by the first device. The controller automatically selecting the sound based on the selected view. The first device also includes a display configured to display the selected view of the second site based on a video image of the second site captured by the second device. The display has the display configuration.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2018Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Ross Garrett Cutler, Antti Kelloniemi

Patent number: 9838821Abstract: An apparatus receives a first audio signal captured by a first microphone of a device and at least a second audio signal captured by at least a second microphone of the device. The apparatus estimates a diffuseness of sound based on the received first and at least second audio signals. The apparatus may then form at least one final audio signal based on at least one of the received first audio signal and the received at least second audio signal by adjusting an audibility of diffuse sound for the final audio signal in response to the estimated diffuseness, in order to enable an enhanced perception of sound with respect to at least one criterion with the at least one final audio signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2014Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventor: Antti Kelloniemi

Patent number: 9301055Abstract: Acoustic actuator plate structures are used in acoustic applications. The acoustic actuator plate structure according to the invention contains an electret material and comprises a structurally weaker electret layer (1), where the specific resistance of the electret material is at least 10 ?m and the yield point of it is high, and a structurally stronger support structure layer (2), where the plastic region of the support layer material is wider than the plastic region of the electret material. The electret layer (1) can be formed of a material that retains its electret properties extremely well even in high temperatures and humid conditions. This material may be brittle. The support structure layer (2) provides mechanical and structural strength to the acoustic actuator plate structure.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2008Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: PANPHONICS OYInventors: Erkki Honkakoski, Antti Kelloniemi, Heini Orhala, Pasi Peltola, Sari Tuominen

Patent number: 9197958Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate the listener's configuration of a filter for audio signals to be output by a headphone. In the context of a method, an indication of a size of a headphone is received, such as an indication of a large size including circum-aural and supra-aural headphones or an indication of a small size including intra-concha and in-ear headphones. The method also includes receiving an indication of a gain for a respective frequency band, such as an indication of a balance between high and low frequencies. The method also determines, with a processor, a filter dependent upon the size of the headphone and the gain for the respective frequency band. The method also filters audio signals utilizing the determined filter.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2013Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventor: Antti Kelloniemi
