  • Patent number: 4991306
Abstract: The center locator utilizes a probe mounted for limited universal movement by a ball and socket arrangement. The center locator is affixed to the machine tool spindle so that the center of the ball coincides with the axis of the machine tool spindle. One end of the probe, provided, for example, with a sharp point, is placed in registry with a punch mark or pilot hole. The other end of the probe cooperates with two orthogonally located sensors. Each sensor includes a plunger confined for rectilinear movement by a hollow calibration nut, the plunger of one sensor being movable in the X direction in a plane at right angles to the spindle axis, and the plunger of the other sensor being movable in the Y direction in said plane. Springs cause the plungers to maintain contact with the probe end to follow the probe end along the X and Y axes respectively. The ends of the plungers are flat and move inwardly and outwardly of correspondingly flat tactile ends of the calibration nuts as the probe tilts in its mounting.

  • Patent number: 4549463
Abstract: A decapping tool includes a pair of holders, one providing a conical seat for the cartridge head, and the second providing a conical center for the cartridge mouth. The holders are spring urged towards each other whereby the cartridge is held and centered irrespective (within limits) of its length or caliber. A punch rod extends through the center, into the cartridge to the region of the primer cap at the flash hole. An anvil attached to the rear end of the punch rod is engaged by a crank.

  • Patent number: 4438567
Abstract: A hollow barrel has a shank at one end which connects to the chuck of a machine tool. A simple lamp and lens system at the barrel axis projects an image through the other end of the barrel to the work surface. The work is movable to align a mark or hole on its surface with the projected image, whereupon the work is clamped in place, the barrel removed, and the machine operation performed.

  • Patent number: 4411105
Abstract: The drill grinder includes a drill bit holder mounted for movement about a swing axis provided by a rocker arm. The swing axis parallels the plane of the grinding wheel. An index ring mounted on the holder provides precise indexing of the drill bit. The extent of micrometric feed movement of the rocker arm is precisely marked so that such movement can be exactly duplicated as to all lip surfaces, thus achieving a symmetrically surfaced drill bit. These structures are integrated in a system that provides simple adjustment for drill bit size, clearance angle and contour control of lip surface.
