  • Patent number: 9622243
Abstract: Various example embodiments are disclosed relating to wireless networks and relating to context transfers and multi-band operation in wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a multi-band scheduler may be provided for use in a wireless node. The multi-band scheduler may be configured to: receive one or more data units of a flow; assign each received data unit of the flow to a first frequency band of a plurality of frequency bands; determine a band transfer condition for the flow; and perform a context transfer from the first frequency band to a second frequency band for the flow based on the determined band transfer condition.

  • Patent number: 9414223
Abstract: A method for security for inter-RAT carrier aggregation is disclosed. The method includes encrypting a message using an encryption technique for a first RAT. The method also includes sending, to a UE, at least a portion of the encrypted message using a different, second RAT. Sending using the second RAT does not further encrypt the at least a portion of the encrypted message. The method further includes receiving the at least a portion of the message encrypted using the first RAT protocol. Receiving uses the second, different RAT. The method also includes decrypting the at least a portion of the message using the first RAT protocol. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

  • Patent number: 9031017
Abstract: Methods of power control for LTE transmissions in unlicensed bands are described. One method includes determining, at a first device (such as a LTE UE or LTE eNB), a scheduled transmission window for a LTE transmission in an unlicensed band. The transmission window indicates a time for sending the transmission in the unlicensed band. Prior to the scheduled transmission window, the method also includes determining whether a WiFi transmitter is transmitting a signal in the unlicensed band. The method also includes, in response to determining that the transmitter is transmitting in the unlicensed band, determining an adjusted transmission power for the transmission and sending the transmission (such as from an LTE UE to an LTE eNB or from an LTE eNB to an LTE UE) in the transmission window at the adjusted transmission power. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

  • Publication number: 20140254398
Abstract: Systems and techniques for data traffic management are described. A base station providing data communication services to user devices and capable of transferring traffic to one or more wireless network access points receives data queuing latency information relating to data queuing latency experienced by the one or more user devices, access points, or both. The base station makes determinations relating to offloading of traffic to access points, such as from wireless cellular network frequencies to wireless local area network resources, based on the latency information.

  • Patent number: 8705467
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and program products are disclosed that perform the following: sending an offset to a user equipment; sending an assignment on a control channel, the assignment corresponding to a random access request by the user equipment, wherein the assignment is addressed to the user equipment by using a value determined using the offset; and sending a random access response for the user equipment on resources of a shared channel, the resources corresponding to the assignment. Methods, apparatus, and program products are disclosed that perform the following: receiving at a user equipment an offset; receiving an assignment on a control channel, the assignment corresponding to a random access request, wherein the assignment is addressed to the user equipment by using a value determined using the offset; and receiving a random access response for the user equipment on resources of a shared channel, the resources corresponding to the assignment.

  • Publication number: 20100110886
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, apparatus and computer programs providing localized awareness of spectrum usage and other factors in uncoordinated deployments of radio access networks. A method includes transmitting a beacon from a first access node for reception by a first user terminal that is associated with the first access node and also by a second user terminal that is associated with a second access node. The method further includes receiving feedback from the first user terminal that is associated with the first access node, the feedback comprising information obtained by the first user terminal from a beacon received from the second access node.
