  • Patent number: 7493373
Abstract: A system is provided to facilitate distribution of a service between a first application and a second application. The system includes a remote socket object, a service registry, and a service mapper. The service mapper receives notification from the service registry indicating registration of the remote socket object created in response to a request for a service at the first application. The service mapper requests an active subscription list from the service registry and selects a subscription record from the active subscription list. The subscription record is associated with the second application. The service mapper sends the selected subscription record to the second application using a remote device port mapped to a localhost port and receives a service record from the second application including a socket for communicating with the second application.

  • Publication number: 20080278286
Abstract: A communications system comprising one or more transponders and a user terminal including a processing unit, a reader unit for communicating with the transponders and a communications unit. The one or more transponders are configured to store connection specific information on the terminal device, and the reader unit of the user terminal is configured to receive the connection specific information on the terminal device stored in a transponder in response to the reader unit of the user terminal being positioned at least in proximity to the transponder, and the processing unit is configured to utilize the received connection specific information when a communications connection between the user terminal and the terminal device is established.

  • Publication number: 20060247802
Abstract: The invention relates to encoding onto and decoding information from a printing surface. In an encoding process, data fragments of an information entity are incorporated into physical code fragments embodied by electrically readable ink patterns onto the printing surface in a printing process. The physical code fragments are distributed into a coordinate space determined by the printing surface such that each data fragment occurs repetitively in the coordinate space, thus providing redundant representation of information on the printing surface. In a decoding process, the electrically readable ink patterns are detected and converted to physical code fragments. The data fragments are extracted from the physical code fragments, and the data fragments are combined in order to form the information entity.

  • Patent number: 7062280
Abstract: System and method for identifying various types of room facilities to find out and take into account space information. A tag of a space (S2) is included in the fluctuation of the intensity of the light emitted by a lamp (LF1) provided in the space in question. The receivers included in the system are arranged e.g. in commercial mobile stations (R1). These are provided with a light detector and with a DSP algorithm that analyses the signal given by said light detector. As a result of the analysis, for instance the mobile station is automatically switched off when entering the space in question. There is neither needed a separate transmitter nor separate energy supply arrangements to send the space tag, and the space tag signal can be detected throughout said space. As regards the mobile station, the space-specific operations can be performed automatically, so that the mobile station user does not need to bother, and his possible negligence does not prevent the precautions from being executed.

  • Publication number: 20050027808
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for utilizing a bytecode script of application software in terminal equipment of a telecommunications system. In the method according to the invention the bytecode script of application software is stored (304) in at least one short message and the bytecode script of the at least one short message is executed (312) on the terminal equipment. The invention also relates to a terminal equipment of a telecommunications system arranged to utilize a bytecode script of application software. The bytecode script of application software is stored in at least one short message and the terminal equipment comprises means (202, 212, 214) for executing the bytecode script of application software stored in at least one short message.

  • Publication number: 20020158908
Abstract: Graphical information having a full extent not displayable at once on a low-resolution display of a hand-held electronic device is displayed over a limited extent thereof at a variable resolution less than or equal to the highest resolution inherently available within the graphical information. The varying portion of the full image to be displayed is selected by a user windowing signal actuated by a user input device such as a button, roller, joystick or by simply moving the hand-held electronic device in space and having that movement sensed by a sensor such as an accelerometer.

  • Publication number: 20010031633
Abstract: A method is disclosed for use in a wireless communications system for processing an incoming call. The method includes steps of (a) storing a current context of a user; (b) in response to an incoming call to the user, determining if an automatic call answering function is enabled and, if so; (c) transferring information to the caller that is descriptive of the current context of the user, without ringing the user's phone. The current context can be determined by a sensor and/or by input from the user, and may be stored in the user's phone equipment or in a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) server. The step of transferring information includes a step of transferring a voice message to the caller, or a text message to the caller, or an animation to the caller, or an identification of an animation that is stored in the caller's phone equipment. The step of transferring information can also comprise a step of transferring a page from the Wireless Application Protocol server to the caller.
