Publication number: 20070256801Abstract: A process and an apparatus are provided for producing pulp from lignocellulosic material by an alkaline cooking process, in which process preheated chips are treated in an impregnation stage with impregnation liquor, which is taken from the impregnation stage, and concentrated to obtain both a high inorganic and organic dry solid content. The temperature is higher than in the heating of the chips and in the removal of air, and is sufficient to enable the finishing of the reactions in the impregnation stage before the cooking stage. The majority of the alkali is added to the impregnation stage. In the cooking stage alkali is added to enable the delignification to be performed to a desired degree, and at the end of the cook black liquor is added to regulate the liquid-to-wood ratio. The process can be applied both to a continuous cook and to a batch cook.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2005Publication date: November 8, 2007Inventors: Lasse Hernesniemi, Antti Tuominen, Tuomo Nykanen, Rami Lampinen

Patent number: 7228136Abstract: A method for estimating a receiver's location in a wireless communication environment having several channels. Each channel has at least one signal parameter that varies with location differently from the other channels. A set of calibration data is determined for each calibration point, each set including the location and at least one measured signal parameter for each of several channels. The calibration data serve as a basis for a statistical model of the signal parameters versus a receiver's location. A set of observed signal parameters is determined, the set including at least one signal parameter for each of several channels at the receiver's location. A location estimate approximating the location of the receiver is determined on the basis of the statistical model and the set of observed signal parameters.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2003Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Ekahau OyInventors: Petri Myllymäki, Henry Tirri, Petri Kontkanen, Jussi Lahtinen, Tomi Silander, Teemu Roos, Antti Tuominen, Kimmo Valtonen, Hannes Wettig

Patent number: 7209752Abstract: A method for determining an error estimate concerning a target device's location. The target device moves and communicates in a wireless environment using signals having at least one measurable signal value. A probabilistic model of the wireless environment indicates a probability distribution for signal values at several sample points in the wireless environment. A set of observations of signal values is made and the target device's location is estimated based on the probabilistic model and the set of observations. The error estimate is determined as a combination of products over several sample points. Each product comprises a probability distribution for the sample point in question being the target device's location and a distance function between the sample point in question and the target device's estimated location.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Assignee: Ekahau OyInventors: Petri Myllymäki, Petri Kontkanen, Teemu Roos, Kimmo Valtonen, Jussi Lahtinen, Hannes Wettig, Antti Tuominen, Henry Tirri

Publication number: 20060070710Abstract: A method and an apparatus for preparing cellulose pulp, in which a lignin-containing raw material is impregnated with impregnation liquor and the impregnated raw material is cooked. The black liquor obtained by cooking is concentrated in an evaporation plant integrated in a chemical recovery plant. In the impregnation, the lignin-containing raw material is impregnated with a circulating alkaline impregnating liquor, which impregnating liquor is concentrated by evaporating water from it in at least one evaporator unit of the evaporation plant arranged in the chemical recovery plant of a pulp mill.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2005Publication date: April 6, 2006Inventors: Lasse Hernesniemi, Rami Lampinen, Antti Tuominen, Tuomo Nykanen

The error estimate (43) is determined as a combination of products over several sample points (SP). Each product comprises a probability distribution (41) for the sample point in question being the target device's location and a distance function (43) between the sample point in question and the target device's estimated location.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2004Publication date: June 16, 2005Applicant: Ekahau OyInventors: Petri Myllymaki, Petri Kontkanen, Teemu Roos, Kimmo Valtonen, Jussi Lahtinen, Hannes Wettig, Antti Tuominen, Henry Tirri

Publication number: 20040072577Abstract: A method for estimating a receiver's location (X) in a wireless communication environment (RN) having several channels. Each channel has at least one signal parameter (V) that varies with location (X) differently from the other channels. A set of calibration data (CD) is determined for each calibration point, each set comprising the location (X) and at least one measured signal parameter (V) for each of several channels. Publication number: 20040059886Abstract: A method and a system for filtering a data stream in a telecom-munications network. The objective of the invention is to provide a filtering mechanism for a data stream whereby the amount of data in the stream is reduced without using compression and with a minimal loss of channel in-formation content. The system comprises two logically different memories. The first memory (201) is used to store channel control information and the second memory (202) to store channel information according to the control channel information stored in the first memory. The fill rate of the first memory is monitored and the content of the second memory is checked by the control unit (200).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2003Publication date: March 25, 2004Inventors: Sami Karhulahti, Markku Ruuskanen, Ari Hurtta, Antti Tuominen

Patent number: 6226261Abstract: The invention relates to a redundant switching arrangement using a first and second switching network (SWF_A, SWF_B) or other switching element. The switching elements are used to carry out switching operations in the same way, so that one of the switching elements serves as an active switching element whose switching operations are utilised, while the other switching element serves as a passive switching element backing up the active switching element. To ensure that any faults occurring in the switching elements in such a redundant switching arrangement are detected as quickly as possible, their operation is monitored by comparing the data of the corresponding output channels of the first and second switching elements, and if such a comparison shows that the data contained in any of the corresponding output channels are not identical, an internal test is carried out for at least one of the switching elements to verify the data of the output channel involved.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2000Date of Patent: May 1, 2001Assignee: Nokia Networks OyInventors: Ari Hurtta, Antti Tuominen, Markku Ruuskanen
