  • Patent number: 12671982
Abstract: An electronic device (such as an access point) that receives a modified response frame is described. During operation, an interface circuit in the electronic device may provide a trigger frame addressed to a second electronic device, where the trigger frame includes a trigger-frame variant that is compatible with an IEEE 802.11 standard (such as IEEE 802.11ax or a subsequent IEEE 802.11 standard). Then, the interface circuit may receive a modified response frame associated with the second electronic device, where the modified response frame is different from a response frame associated with the trigger frame specified by the IEEE 802.11 standard. When the second electronic device indicates support for the modified response frame during association with the electronic device, the interface circuit may define parameters associated with the modified response frame in an association response.

  • Publication number: 20260095935
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are contemplated for transmission of data in a wireless local area network. In embodiments, a first wireless device (AP) is configured to transmit data packets to a second wireless device (STA), and transmits an initial control frame (ICF) to the STA indicating a transmission opportunity time period (TXOP) for data transfer from the first wireless device to the second wireless device. In response to the ICF, the second wireless device returns an initial control response (ICR) indicating an unavailability time period, e.g., Coex unavailability. Alternatively, the STA may send to the AP without prompt, an unsolicited unavailability announcement (UUA) containing unavailability information of the STA. Responsive to receipt of the ICR or UUA, the AP may modify a transmission plan, e.g., shorten or cancel the TXOP, or transmit a portion of the data to another STA, etc. Power settings may be determined based on the unavailability time period.

  • Publication number: 20260089606
Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods for providing uplink data continuity during roaming in a wireless local area network. A wireless device can provide a route switch request to a serving access point that initiates route switching to a target access point. • Publication number: 20260067803
Abstract: A method of retrieving downlink buffered data at a station (STA) from an access point (AP) is disclosed. The method comprises receiving, at the STA, a beacon transmitted from the AP with a traffic indication map (TIM) indicating that the AP has DL buffered data for the STA. An enhanced frame that includes a buffer status report (BSR) request is sent from the STA to the AP, and the BSR is received at the STA from the AP. A type of buffered data that the AP has for the STA is identified at the STA from the BSR. The STA determines to download at least a portion of the buffered data at the STA from the AP based on the type or amount of buffered data identified from the BSR.
