  • Publication number: 20210360432
Abstract: A method for operating an electronic device having a plurality of antenna modules, wherein at least one of the plurality of antenna modules is a serving module, comprises: triggering a module sweeping operation based on one or more of: a reference signal receive power (RSRP) of the serving module being below a dynamic, time-varying threshold; the RSRP of the serving module being lower than an average RSRP of the serving module when the electronic device is at a same location; an estimated angle of arrival of a beam being on an edge or outside of a coverage area of the serving module; inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors indicating that the electronic device has rotated; or the RSRP of the serving module cannot support a predicted data requirement.

  • Publication number: 20210058131
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for selecting beams. A method includes determining, based on a channel condition, whether to use an adaptive selection method or a cycling selection method to select a subset of a plurality of beams for a beam measurement; based on the channel condition being a first channel condition, using the adaptive selection method to select the subset of beams; and based on the channel condition being a second channel condition, using the cycling selection method to select the subset of beams. The method further includes performing the beam measurement on the selected subset of beams, generating beam measurement information based on the beam measurement on the selected subset of beams, and determining one or more of the plurality of beams to use for a wireless communication based on the beam measurement information.

  • Patent number: 9137082
Abstract: The system and method for joint compensation of power amplifier's distortion provides a linearization scheme for transmitter power amplifiers driven by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals. A pre-compensated over-driven amplifier is employed at the transmitter. The over-driven amplifier's distortions are considered as a sparse phenomenon and compressive sensing (CS) algorithms are employed at the receiver to estimate and compensate for these distortions. A bandwidth efficient data aided scheme which does not require reserving subcarriers specifically for CS measurements is utilized.
