  • Patent number: 11080284
Abstract: Documents in a local computing system are parsed for indexing and sent to a cloud-based computing system. The cloud-based search service indexes documents that are parsed on the local computing system, as well as documents that reside in the cloud-based computing system. When a user launches a search, the search is executed against a single search index in the cloud-based computing system, which includes an index of content sources from both the local computing system and the cloud-based computing system.

Date of Patent: August 3, 2021
    Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLC

  • Patent number: 8028333
Abstract: A method and system of authenticating a public key certificate for a relying party (RP). A Certificate Authority (CA), who issued the certificate, is a member of a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) having a Certificate Policy (CP). First quality levels required of the CA by the RP are accessed by a certificate classification service (CCS) and corresponding second quality levels possessed by the CA are ascertained by the CCS. At least one quality characteristic pertaining to the second quality levels relates to at least one element of the CP. The ascertained second quality levels are compared by the CCS with the corresponding accessed first quality levels. A result of the comparing, communicated by the CCS to the RP, is that the certificate is authenticated if the comparing has determined that each first quality level is not less than each corresponding second quality level.

  • Publication number: 20090106207
Abstract: In a method for information access, search, and retrieval over a data communication system generally, wherein a query is applied to a set of documents, a result set of the matching documents are identified. The method comprises amending the query according to the access entitlements of the current user to the original documents in source systems, in such a way that only documents the user is allowed to access directly from various source systems appear in the result set, even when the source documents reside in systems of different security domains that potentially are dependent on each other.
