  • Publication number: 20220379902
Abstract: A method of operating a vehicle having a driver assistance system includes detecting driving parameters pertaining to the vehicle while the vehicle is being driven on a roadway using a sensor system of the vehicle. Objects including road signs, lane indicators, and other vehicles are detected using the sensor system. The objects include at least road signs, lane indicators, and other vehicles on the roadway. A traffic rule pertaining to the roadway is identified using a traffic violation warning and prevention system of the driver assistance system. A traffic situation pertaining to the traffic rule is detected based on the detected objects and the driving parameters. An alert is generated that warns the driver of a potential traffic violation when the traffic situation is detected. Alternatively, the driver assistance system may be configured to take control of the vehicle to prevent violation of the traffic rule.

  • Patent number: 10843693
Abstract: A collision avoidance system includes a sensor system and a control system. The control system includes at least one processing device. The control system is operable to receive sensor data from the sensor system. The control system is operable to generate acceleration data to prepare for an acceleration action of the subject vehicle. The control system is operable to generate steering data to prepare for a steering action of the subject vehicle. The control system is operable to perform operations to provide driving assistance to the subject vehicle if a driving control input is received after the control unit generates the acceleration data and the steering data. The control system is operable to control the subject vehicle in an autonomous driving mode if driving control input is not received after the control unit generates the acceleration data and the steering data.

  • Patent number: 9925979
Abstract: A collision avoidance system and method for a vehicle. The system includes a video camera and a distance sensor. The system includes a driver control, a vehicle control system, and a controller. The controller is communicatively coupled to the video camera, the distance sensor, the driver control, and the vehicle control system. The controller receives a first signal from the video camera indicative of the presence of the pedestrian and receives a second signal from the distance sensor indicative of the presence of the pedestrian. The controller determines a course deviation from a current path of travel of the vehicle and activates a timer. The controller resets the timer when the driver control receives an input from the driver that is above a threshold. When the driver input is below the threshold and the timer expires, the controller applies the course deviation using the vehicle control system.
