  • Patent number: 9181995
Abstract: A hydraulically actuated clutch is controlled based on a mathematical model that predicts the position of the clutch piston based on the profile of the commanded pressure over time. During a clutch engagement, a set of delays associated with the preparatory phase of engagement are measured and compared to predicted values. Model parameters are then adaptively adjusted based on the differences between the measured and predicted delays and on an estimate of the sensitivities between model parameters and the delays. Subsequent engagements are controlled based on the updated mathematical model to reduce the delays. Changes in the measured delays following adaptation of the model parameters are utilized to update the estimate of the sensitivities.

  • Patent number: 9178618
Abstract: An interconnect component is provided fabricated as a preassembled optoelectronic interconnect structure. The interconnect structure has an optical waveguide link with first and second optoelectronic circuits attached to first and second ends of the waveguide link. The optoelectronic circuits include active optical componentry which facilitates optical signal communication across the optical waveguide link. Further, first and second pluralities of electrical contacts are associated with the first and second optoelectronic circuits, respectively, to facilitate electrically, operatively connecting the interconnect structure between first and second components of an electronic assembly as, for instance, a single, field-replaceable unit. The first and second components of the electronic assembly may be, for instance, stacked electronic components of the electronic assembly, or laterally offset components of a substantially planar electronic assembly.

  • Patent number: 9094321
Abstract: A method of managing data flow may include assigning, along a communication route, a predetermined total energy consumption limit for a network adaptor having a first and a second network adaptor port card, whereby the route transmits data between a first and a second node within the network. Along the route, a total energy consumption value for the network adaptor is determined based on the transmitted data. The assigned total energy consumption limit is compared with the determined total energy consumption value of the network adaptor. The transmitted data is determined as being data of a known duration and data of an unknown duration based on the comparing resulting in the determined total energy consumption value exceeding the assigned total energy consumption limit. The data of a known duration is transferred from the first network adaptor to the second network adaptor and the first network adaptor is powered off.

  • Publication number: 20150190061
Abstract: The present application describes techniques to image biological tissue to determine biological information of an imaged tissue sample such as changes in hemoglobin concentrations, blood flow rate (pulse), and/or spatio-temporal features. Embodiments include illuminating the tissue sample with light in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum, which is minimally absorbed but scattered through the tissue sample. By detecting the NIR light that is attenuated through, transmitted through, and/or reflected off the tissue to be imaged, the resulting NIR intensity signals may be further analyzed to provide this data. Embodiments include using multiple NIR light sources having varying wavelengths to obtain changes in the oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin concentrations of the imaged tissue region. The tissue sample may be imaged over a time period, and the NIR images may be viewed statically or in real time after post-processing analyses have been performed.

  • Publication number: 20150172099
Abstract: Embodiments include a system for implementing multipath selection of ethernet links in a fiber channel over ethernet (FCoE) network. A first VLAN defined a point-to-point path through the ethernet side of the network. A link failure in the first VLAN link is replaced by activating an alternate VLAN link corresponding to a new path through the ethernet side of the network while disabling all other VLANS corresponding to other paths through the ethernet side of the network. An advertisement is received from the origination SAN device on the fiber channel side of the network indicating a request for network access by the origination SAN device. Communications are enabled between the origination SAN device and the destination LAN device via the alternate VLAN link. Communications are then resumed between the origination SAN device and the destination LAN device utilizing the alternate VLAN link.
