The devices may be well suited for integration into medical devices, such as intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheters, to provide high resolution ultrasound images.

Abstract: Imaging catheter devices that include one or more sensors, such as one or more ultrasound sensors, for measuring a lumen of a vessel. The catheter devices may include an inflatable balloon. In some cases, the ultrasound sensors include piezoelectric transducers having high resolution and tissue penetration capability while having a small diameter for incorporation into the catheter device. In some cases, the catheter devices include a flexible distal tip for navigating through the vessel.
