  • Patent number: 10302254
Abstract: A natural gas storage facility for reducing effects of diurnal demand on a natural gas source is disclosed. The natural gas storage facility includes a guard bed system that has a heavy natural gas component storage capacity and that is operable to remove impurities from introduced natural gas, to selectively separate the introduced natural gas into a heavy natural gas component and a light natural gas component, to retain the heavy natural gas component and to release the heavy natural gas component and an adsorption bed system that fluidly couples to the guard bed system, that has a light natural gas component storage capacity, that contains a light natural gas adsorbent that is a microporous material, and that is operable to retain the light natural gas component using the light natural gas adsorbent and to release the light natural gas component from the light natural gas adsorbent.

Date of Patent: May 28, 2019
    Assignee: SAUDI ARABIAN OIL COMPANY
Inventors: Yuguo Wang, Cemal Ercan, Mohammed Ghalib Al-Hashim, Anwar H. Al-Khawajah, Rashid M. Othman
  • Patent number: 9714925
Abstract: A gas chromatographic method for analyzing natural gas and a natural gas upgrading system using the gas chromatographic method for analyzing natural gas. The method includes transporting the natural gas through a chiller, transporting the natural gas from the chiller to at least two gas upgrading membranes, and operating a gas chromatographic system having at least one upstream gas chromatograph and at least two downstream gas chromatographs. The at least one upstream gas chromatograph, the first downstream gas chromatograph, and the second downstream gas chromatograph all operate simultaneously and utilize the same heating oven to heat samples of natural gas.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 25, 2017
    Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil Company
Inventors: Naim Akmal, Saeed Hasan Al-Shahrani, Anwar H. Al-Khawajah, Milind M. Vaidya, Jean-Pierre R. Ballaguet, Sebastien A. Duval
  • Patent number: 9562649
Abstract: A method of using the natural gas storage facility to reduce the effect of diurnal demand on a natural gas source includes introducing natural gas into the natural gas storage facility, separating the natural gas into a heavy natural gas component and a light natural gas component, and retaining the components during a non-peak period of demand. The natural gas storage facility includes a guard bed system and an adsorption bed system. The method also includes releasing the heavy and light natural gas components, mixing them into a released natural gas component product and introducing it to the natural gas source during a peak period of demand.
