    Abstract: Methods, apparatus, devices, and systems for clamping hollow structures with multi-sectional composite clamps are provided. In one aspect, a method includes: sequentially clamping at least two clamp layers around the hollow structure by clamping a first clamp layer around the hollow structure by connecting one or more clamp sections of the first clamp layer to form at least one first joint and clamping a second clamp layer around the first clamp layer by connecting one or more clamp sections of the second clamp layer to form at least one second joint.     Abstract: A system for coupling pipes includes a first pipe having a tapered, spigot end; a second pipe having a tapered, spigot end; a coupler having two tapered socket ends adapted to internally receive the respective tapered, spigot ends of the first pipe and the second pipe; and a resistive element. The first pipe, the second pipe, and the coupler are made from a reinforced thermosetting resin (RTR). The resistive element includes a first layer and a second layer of thermoplastic material; and an electrically conducting resistive heating element with positive and negative terminals for connecting electrical power. The electrically conducting resistive heating element is sandwiched by the first layer and the second layer of thermoplastic material. The resistive element is disposed between an interior of the coupler and at least one of: an exterior of the first pipe and an exterior of the second pipe.

    Abstract: This disclosure describes a reinforced thermosetting resin piping system that is protected from external impact and UV damage by an outer polyurea-based layer. The embodiments described herein can be favorably used for underground and aboveground applications. In some implementations, an RTR pipe includes a core layer that includes a resin and fibers, an outer layer that includes a polyurea-based layer, and an interface layer between the core layer and the outer layer. The methods described herein also outline the process of producing the pipe structure.

Internally lined pipes for oil and gas flowlines for oil and gas flowlines may include inner extruded tubular liner containing an aliphatic polyketone, and a carbon steel pipe surrounding the inner extruded tubular liner. The spoolable composite pipes and the internally lined pipes may be configured to operate at temperatures of up to about 110° C., and to carry hydrocarbons having an aromatic content of up to about 35% by volume of the total hydrocarbons content.

    Abstract: The asphalt with modified oil fly ash additive provides an improved asphalt binder for asphalt concrete. In one embodiment, the oil fly ash is modified to include a carboxylic acid group (—COOH) attached to the surface of the oil fly ash. In another embodiment, the oil fly ash is modified to attach 1-octadecanoate to the surface of the oil fly ash. The modified oil fly ash additive may be mixed with the asphalt cement or binder material, or mixed with the aggregate material for incorporation into asphalt concrete. The asphalt with modified oil fly ash additive improves the performance grade of asphalt binder from 64-10 to 82-10, eliminates the need for the usual commercial polymer modifier, improves the rutting resistance of asphalt concrete mixes over unmodified oil fly ash, and provides for an environmentally friendly way of disposing of oil fly ash waste.
