  • Patent number: 10928134
Abstract: Flue gases are produced in a combustion chamber of a burner unit, in particular for the combustion of exhaust air. Combustion gas can be supplied to a gas burner via a combustion gas line and feed air, in particular exhaust air that can be used as feed air, is supplied to said burner via a feed air line. The feed air is divided into primary air and secondary air by a device. The primary air is mixed with the combustion gas, in a mixing zone, to form a primary air/combustion gas mixture, said primary air/combustion gas mixture being supplied to the combustion chamber. A flue gas re-circulation system comprises a through-flow chamber which is connected to the combustion chamber and in which the secondary air is mixed with the flue gases occurring in the combustion chamber to form a secondary air/flue-gas mixture. The secondary air/flue-gas mixture is supplied to the primary air/combustion gas mixture in the combustion chamber by means of a device.

  • Patent number: 9523500
Abstract: A thermal afterburning system and a method for operating such a system are described, in which method or system a burner gas is fed in a conventional manner to a burner heating the combustion space of a combustion chamber, and exhaust air with a pollutant load is fed to the combustion space of the combustion chamber. The clean air produced inside the combustion space during the combustion processes is discharged. At the same time the carbon monoxide content of said air is measured. The supply of burner gas to the burner is regulated in such a manner that a predetermined target value for the carbon monoxide content is maintained. In this manner, the temperature in the combustion space is kept only sufficiently high as is required to achieve the desired purity of the clean gas given the respective pollutant load of the exhaust air.

  • Patent number: 9194580
Abstract: The invention describes a burner for a thermal post-combustion device, which has a burner jet arranged in a housing. Arranged on the end region of the housing is a swirl apparatus, through which the exhaust gas to be purified can be made to flow. The burner jet comprises an outer tube and an inner tube, wherein it is possible for combustion gas to be made to flow through the interspace between said two tubes as far as an annular outlet gap in the end region thereof. The flow path for the combustion gas has a bottleneck in the vicinity of the outlet gap. In this way, a compact flame can be achieved, the form of which can be designated “bell-shaped” and which, for a given volume, has a relatively small surface. Although, such a flame has poor CO2 values, the swirl apparatus ensures that the exhaust gas burns in the flame with very low NOx and CO values.

  • Patent number: 8316922
Abstract: A thermal postcombustion device includes, in a conventional manner per se, a housing, having an inlet for the exhaust air that is to be purified and an outlet for clean air. A combustion chamber is located inside the housing, and inside this combustion chamber, a heating device generates a temperature at which the pollutants carried by the exhaust air burn. In order to reduce the energy requirement, a heat exchanger is provided over which the exhaust air coming from the inlet is guided to the combustion chamber, and the clean air coming from the combustion chamber is guided to the outlet. In order to also be able to process exhaust air, which is loaded with adherent residues, for example, pitch vapors, a device is provided with which, during a purification mode, at least a portion of the clean air can be optionally fed past a section of the heat exchanger located closer to the combustion chamber and into another section of the heat exchanger located further from the combustion chamber.
