Publication number: 20250295704Abstract: Provided is a composition for the treatment of osteoarthritis using iPSC-derived mitochondria. Therefore, it was confirmed that the iPSC-derived mitochondria of the present disclosure increased the transplant ability into chondrocytes, suppressed the expression of the MMP series, which were cartilage metabolic factors, and suppressed the death of chondrocytes. In addition, it was confirmed that the iPSC-derived mitochondria suppressed damage to joint tissue in an osteoarthritis animal model, reduced immune cells, and increased immune osteoarthritis-causing regulatory cells. In addition, it was confirmed that the expression of UCP2 in iPSC-derived mitochondria was significantly increased compared to mitochondria isolated from other origin cells, and that UCP2 was closely related to the treatment effect of osteoarthritis caused by mitochondrial transplantation.
