Abstract: Audio beamforming is a technique in which sounds received from two or more microphones are combined to isolate a sound from background noise. A variety of audio beamforming spatial patterns exist. The patterns can be fixed or adapted over time, and can even vary by frequency. The different patterns can achieve varying levels of success for different types of sounds. To improve the performance of audio beamforming, a system can select a mode beam pattern based on a detected running application and/or device settings. The system can use the mode beam pattern to configure an audio beamforming algorithm. The configured audio beamforming algorithm can be used to generate processed the audio data from multiple audio signals. The system can then send processed audio data to the running application.
