  • Publication number: 20180034230
Abstract: A laser system includes a seed source optically coupled to an extra cavity harmonic generator system may produce a round, non-astigmatic third harmonic output beam from a nominally round, non-astigmatic, diffraction limited input fundamental beam from the seed source. The system may include a second harmonic generation crystal. An input fundamental beam size is expanded in a non-walkoff direction for the SHG crystal at the SHG crystal input face. A higher harmonic generation crystal has an output face oriented at an oblique angle of incidence in a non-walkoff direction for the HHG crystal such that an output higher harmonic beam size is contracted in this direction. Expansion of the input fundamental beam at the SHG crystal input face exceeds reduction of third harmonic beam at the HHG crystal output face.

  • Patent number: 5789258
Abstract: A method is provided for use in generating a chemical vapor stream which may be used to calibrate vapor detectors and for other purposes. The vapor generator is provided with a column having a temperature controlled zone. The chemical is coated onto a carrier such as glass beads and is placed in a temperature controlled zone. A carrier gas is passed over the chemical at a rate which permits the concentration of chemical vapors in the carrier gas to be at saturation. The exiting carrier gas contains chemical vapors at a known concentration. In one embodiment, a second temperature controlled zone is provided downstream, and at a lower temperature than the first zone, to ensure saturation of the carrier gas passing through the second zone.

  • Patent number: 5039108
Abstract: A free style playing stick is kept in the air by striking or catching it with a secondary spinner stick or a player's hand, foot, knee and the like. For ease of play a pair of additional striking surfaces are provided at each end and a pair symmetrically about the center. The additional striking surfaces are of sufficient size to allow a rod to be stopped which is traveling along its axis. The additional striking surfaces about the center are discs which are spaced apart from one another a distance less than the width of an average person's foot. The stick may be blow molded.

  • Patent number: 5011517
Abstract: An instrument for removing chemical vapors from air and concentrating the chemical vapors in a liquid scrubbing medium has been invented. A cylindrical receptacle receives a preselected amount of scrubbing liquid. Air is pulled tangentially into the cylinder through an inlet slit and swirls toward the cylinder top, carrying the liquid with it so that the cylinder wall is coated with the liquid. At the end of a sampling cycle, the air flow is shut off and the liquid is allowed to settle before being drained off for analysis. A cleaning cycle between sampling cycles is possible, during which the cylinder can be heated by an electrical heater cable.
