Also disclosed is a fast acting roll retainer and a chopper having the fast acting roll retainer that permits a backup roll and a blade roll to be removed and replaced in a faster and lesser damaging manner. Methods of chopping and changing rolls on an apparatus using the disclosed apparatus are also disclosed.
