Abstract: The invention concerns the provision of novel 1,4-dihydropyridine-sugar derivatives and processes for their preparation. The invention also concerns pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds of the invention and methods for their use. The products of the invention, such as 2-[1,4-dihydro-5-(2-propyl)-oxycarbonyl-2,6-dimethyl-4-m-nitrophenyl-3- pyridylcarbonyloxy]-ethyl .beta.-D-glucopyranoside, are effective for the treatment of circulatory disorders and can be used as antihypertensive agents, vasodilators or coronary therapeutic agents.

Abstract: The invention relates to new dihydropyridines which are substituted by an amino group in at least one of the 2- and 6-positions, by a sulphur-containing substituent in the 3-position, by a cyclic substituent in the 4-position and by a carbonyl substituent in the 5-position. The new dihydropyridines are particularly useful as agents which influence the circulatory system. Also included in the invention are procedures for preparation of the new dehydropyridines, compositions containing them and methods for their use.

Abstract: The isobutyl methyl 1,4-dihydro-2,6-dimethyl-4-(2-nitrophenyl)-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylate demonstrates the unique ability of increasing myocardial perfusion upon oral or intravenous administration. Methods of preparing the compound, its use in coronary conditions and pharmaceutical compositions for effecting that use are disclosed.

The compounds, of which 1-(2-methoxy-4-allylphenoxy)-2-hydroxy-3-diphenylmethylamino-propane is a typical embodiment, can be prepared by a number of synthetic routes.
