  • Patent number: 7518954
Abstract: A motion sensing transducer is disclosed that includes a case having an inner surface, a first cap that closes the case at a first end and a second cap that closes the case at a second end. The case inner surface, first cap and second cap define a space within the case. The apparatus further includes at least one inner plate member separating the space into at a first compartment and a second compartment within the case, a coil-magnet assembly that produces a signal when subjected to motion, the coil-magnet assembly disposed immediately within the case and in the first compartment, and an electronic circuit disposed within the second compartment that modifies the signal.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7505369
Abstract: A motion sensing element with position sensing includes a case, a magnet positioned within the case, a spring assembly having an electrically conductive member and a coil assembly coupled to the spring assembly. The coil assembly and magnet are moveable with respect to one another. A capacitor plate is proximate the electrically conductive member with a distance between the capacitor plate and electrically conductive member being variable as the magnet and coil assembly move. Leads connect the capacitor plate and electrically conductive member to a sensing circuit for estimating the relative positions of the magnet and coil assembly.

  • Patent number: 6922374
Abstract: A geophone including conductive terminals positioned on opposite sides of the geophone housing. The geophone includes a pair of coils resiliently mounted within the geophone housing and a magnet. A first end plate, a first spring, and a first coil support provide a first end of the electrically conductive path. A second end plate, a second spring, and a second coil support provide a second end of the electrically conductive path. The first and second end of the electrically conductive path are electrically insulated from each and the geophone housing. Providing one or more remaining components with electrically non-conductive surfaces provides electrical insulation.

  • Patent number: 4685094
Abstract: A spring system for use with a geophone for suspending a reference mass axially and laterally. One spring of the spring system flexes more axially than laterally, and the other spring of the spring system flexes more laterally, although heavily damped, than axially.
