Abstract: Systems and methods for providing recommendations directed to cultural events, such as films, theatre shows, concerts, etc., via an online site are described. The systems and methods may also be used to provide recommendations for restaurants, books, television shows or other subjects. The system and method include a trainable recommendation engine that collects, aggregates, and combines trusted recommendations to create a personalized list of recommended events. Algorithms are used to gather and aggregate individual reviews of events and event listings, restaurants, books or other subjects from the Internet, aggregate the likes and dislikes of individuals who provide reviews to generate customized recommendations for the user, and constantly improve each user's experience by identifying likeminded individuals within the system.
