  • Patent number: 7245670
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for channel equalization in a receiver, in which a signal is received from a communication channel, the signal containing symbols formed of binary information by phase shift keying. In the receiver, channel estimation is performed to estimate the properties of the communication channel, and samples are taken of the received signal at intervals. In the method, a determined number of samples is examined at the time, and a decision step is taken, in which, to find out the transmitted symbols, bit decisions are computed on the basis of said determined number of samples. After each decision step, it is examined, whether said decision step is to be iterated. Upon iteration of said decision step, at least some of the bit decisions of the preceding decision step are used in addition to the samples under examination at the time, for computing the bit decisions.

  • Publication number: 20050107106
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and network element for controling power and/or load in a network, wherein a reference table is stored and used for deriving a reference control value from at least one connection-specific parameter. The power and/or load control is then performed based on the derived reference control value. The reference control values stored in the reference table are estimated based on a real measurement of at least one predetermined network parameter, and the reference table is updated using the estimated reference control values. Thereby, an autotuning mechanism is provided to adjust the reference control values based on real measurements, so that real location-dependent radio propagation conditions are taken into account.

  • Publication number: 20040117226
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for configuring a network, wherein the network comprises a plurality of network sections, the method comprising the steps of accessing (S2) data from network sections; forming (S3) groups of network sections using a clustering method by using at least part of the accessed data as input data; and processing (S4) parameter on network section group level. By this method, the operation load during optimising a network consisting of a large number of cells can be greatly reduced. The invention also proposes a corresponding network optimising system.

  • Publication number: 20040006733
Abstract: A method for repairing a channel-encoded phase modulation signal deteriorated in radio path, and an equalizer and receiver operating according to said method. In the repairing of the received signal (r) is utilized data corrected with respect to bit errors, which data is achieved by channel coding and decoding and interleaving. For this purpose, a feedback signal is formed by re-encoding and reinterleaving the decoded signal. This way bits ({circumflex over (b)}), correspoding to symbol bits of the signal received from the channel but in addition estimating the original data, are provided. The equalizer (EQ) is an iteration-type. After each iteration cycle, to the result is added the corresponding bit estimate being included in the feedback signal for the next cycle. When the result has settled, it is taken forward on the signal path without said bit estimate.

  • Patent number: 6374385
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for decoding a convolutionally encoded signal which comprises code words and the arrangement comprises a neural network which comprises a set of neurons comprising a set of inputs and an output. The received code words are applied to the inputs of the neurons, and the arrangement combines some of the inputs of the neuron in the neuron. In order to enable efficient decoding of the convolutional encoding, some of the output signals of the neural network neurons are fed back to the inputs of the neuron and the neuron multiplies at least some of the inputs of the neuron with one another before combining. The output signal of a predetermined neuron comprises an estimate of a decoded symbol.
