  • Publication number: 20080151363
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an arrangement in an imaging system for microtitre wells, the arrangement comprising a sample plate having a plurality of wells for samples, and a lens system arranged in connection with the sample plate and comprising an objective and at least one lens group for imaging the rays representing the structure of the samples and passing through the objective to an image detector. In order for the arrangement to enable a rapid imaging of the samples in the wells with a high resolving power, the lens system comprises a plurality of objectives focused to infinity for collecting rays representing the samples, the objectives being at least partly arranged detachably inside wells in the sample plate. The disclosure also relates to a method of imaging samples in microtitre wells.

  • Publication number: 20070268492
Abstract: A device for different applications of measuring properties of samples on e.g. microtitration plates and corresponding sample supports. It achieves more efficient illumination for activating a sample in measuring e.g. fluorescence. This is achieved by providing an illumination arrangement in an optical measurement instrumentation which includes at least one cavity which has walls with reflective inner surfaces. The light beams for the excitation of samples are guided through the cavity. With such a cavity it is possible to collect the radiation of the light source efficiently and guide the light into the sample with very small attenuation. The reflections from the cavity walls significantly improve the evenness of the radiation. This effect can be further increased by providing an uneven inner surface of the walls. It is also possible to collimate the light by using a cavity which has an increasing width/cross-section in the advancing direction of the light.

  • Publication number: 20070177149
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of biochemical laboratory instrumentation for different applications of measuring properties of samples on e.g. microtitration plates and corresponding sample supports. The object of the invention is achieved by providing an optical measurement instrumentation which comprises a point detector (531) for the measurement of homogeneous samples, and an image detector (591) for the measurement samples wherein the substance to be measured is inside or attached to details such as cells. The instrumentation has thus two measurement modes for the measurement of different types of samples. In measurement of details, improved measurement accuracy is obtained, as well as better insensitivity to the number and location of the details such as cells or particles within a sample.
