Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions for the modulation of the immune reaction of warm blooded animals that are derivatives of the 2-oxindole-3-acetic acid or the 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-4-carboxylic acid are described, and whereby the derivatives can optionally be in an equilibrium with each other.The derivatives included in the pharmaceutical compositions comprise those compounds which are already described in the literature and also new compounds.Furthermore, new derivatives of the the 2-oxindole-3-acetic acid and the 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-4-carboxylic acid are described, particularly also the the pure antipodes of the mixture of enantiomeres of the 2-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-4-carboxylic acid.

Abstract: What are described are new glucosides and their sugar-free decomposition products, as well as synthetically produced derivatives, which can be used as active components of pharmaceutical compositions. The novel glucosides have been isolated from aqueous extracts of vegetable pollen. These novel glucosides, sugar-free decomposition products and their derivatives have the effectiveness to modulate the immune system of warm blooded animals and they can be used as active components in pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of tumors and virus-related diseases.

Abstract: Extracts which were recovered with aqueous extraction media from the pollen of plants inhibit the growth of tumor-cells and stimulate at the same time the metabolism of normal healthy cells. Said extracts of pollen which do not contain more than 5% by weight of proteins having a high molecular weight or which are completely free of such proteins of high molecular weight, are used as active ingredient of corresponding pharmaceutical preparations and they are used for treating cancer, tumors and leukemia in human beings or warm blooded animals. Living leukemia cells are rapidly killed by said extracts. The pollen extracts in question are a yellowish-white product and they usually contain, referred to the dry weight of the pollen extracts, at least 70% by weight of carbohydrates, 5-12% by weight of amino acids, peptides and/or proteinous substances and furthermore water soluble vitamines of the group B and mineral constituents.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical preparation for the prophylactic treatment of allergies which contains as active ingredient an extract of pollen which contains nor more than 5% by weight, referred to the dry weight of the extract of pollen, of proteins having a high molecular weight or which is completely free of proteins of high molecular weight. The active ingredients of the inventive pharmaceutical preparation have themselves no allergen activity. To those human beings and children which in the years before suffered from severe symptoms of hay fever or asthma, the inventive pharmaceutical preparations were administered, preferably orally, during about three months before the allergy usually had occurred, for instance in the months February until April. By said administration the occurring of the pollen allergy in spring time and during the whole summer could be completely prevented.
