  • Patent number: 5152109
Abstract: A portable performance platform for the performing arts includes a wheel mounted chassis adapted for towing by an automobile or truck. A staging compartment is mounted on the chassis that includes front and rear end walls, opposed sidewalls, an overhead roof, and a compartment floor. Opposed telescoping towers are mounted on the front and rear ends of the chassis to provide right and left upright supports for the overhead roof. The compartment sidewalls are pivotally carried along opposed side margins of the roof, and are outwardly extendible to present an extended canopy in conjunction with the roof when the platform is set up in its performance configuration. A unique actuating assembly raises and lowers the sidewalls in tandem, and tilts the raised canopy to an acoustically desirable orientation. In the performing configuration, the platform aprons of the portable performance platform are pivoted downwardly so as to be flush with the compartment floor.

  • Patent number: 5121215
Abstract: A surveillance camera system including a base plate, a truncated cone, a rotation ring spaced from the base of the truncated cone, a camera assembly which readily mounts within the rotation ring, and a dome which rotates with the camera assembly and is easily engaged into position against spring-biased rollers. The system is a unique and novel combination of electrical and electromechanical components providing for ready access of all components in the event of servicing. The system will accept any suitable surveillance camera, and is readily adaptable with any surveillance camera of the appropriate size.

  • Patent number: 5092744
Abstract: An intensifier for delivering ultra high pressure water to a cutting head of a water jet cutting apparatus. The intensifier has a power piston and cylinder assembly connected to piston members extended into pumping chambers in housing located at opposite ends of the piston and cylinder assembly. Inlet poppet valves located in the pumping chambers control the flow of water from inlet passages into the pumping chambers. Outlet poppet valves allow ultra high pressure water to be pumped out of the pumping chamber into an accumulator fluidly connected to the cutting head. Hydraulic fluid under pressure is sequentially directed to opposite ends of the piston and cylinder assembly with a solenoid operated reversing valve. Limit switches operable in response to movement of the piston members control the reversing valve. Linear motion transfer mechanisms are moved with ramps on the piston members to actuate the limit switches to control the reciprocating action of the piston and cylinder assembly.

  • Patent number: 5078442
Abstract: A portable performance platform for the performing arts is disclosed that, in the stowed configuration, can be transported along roads and highways, and, in its unfolded configuration, presents an extended performing area having an overhead canopy. The platform includes a chassis mounted on ground engaging wheels. A pair of spaced apart, upright standards are positioned along one side margin of the chassis. Each standard includes an articulated arm that can be shifted between a stowed position (for transport of the platform) and an extended position (when the platform is set up for a performance). The articulated arm includes two arm members, and panels are fixedly carried by each of the arm members. In the stowed position, the panels make up a top wall and a sidewall of a staging compartment, and, when the arms are in the extended position, the panels provide a canopy over the performing area.

  • Patent number: 4937985
Abstract: An abrasive liquid jet cutting system has a cutting head for directing a jet of ultra high pressure water and grit to a work piece. The jet cuts the work piece in a desired pattern to form a product. The liquid from the jet, grit, and particulate materials of the work piece are collected with a receiver located generally below the cutting head. Controls for both the cutting head and receiver are coordinated to move the receiver along with the cutting head so that the water and particulate materials are collected by receiver. The receiver has an upright tubular member provided with wear resistant sleeves and an upright central rod to absorb the impact forces of the water and particulate materials that move through the receiver. A drive means connected to the tubular body operates to continuously rotate the tubular body, sleeves and rod to distribute the wear around the sleeves and rod caused by the water, grit and particulate materials that impinge thereon.

  • Patent number: 4786004
Abstract: An armature winding machine has an armature winding core holder provided with a collet assembly for gripping the shaft of an armature core. The collet assembly has a plurality of releasable balls that connect the collet assembly to a support. A tool having a push rod and hooked fingers is used to release the balls and grasp the collet assembly for removal from its support. Another collet assembly can be mounted on the support with the tool. The armature winding machine has chucks with wire form or shrouds for guiding wire into selected slots in the armature core during the winding of the wire with the rotating flyers of the machine. The chucks are releasably mounted on supports so that they can be removed as a unit from the support and replaced with different sized chucks. The chuck and supports have cooperating connecting structure and locking dogs that releasably hold the chucks on the supports.
