Abstract: A passive overflow device for draining away head water standing above settled sand in a loading space of a hopper, wherein the passive overflow device extends along a longitudinal axis and includes: an inlet for taking in the head water; an outlet section having an outlet for opening out in the outboard water and which outlet is level adjustable into an active position wherein in use, the head water is delivered proximate the sea bottom; a conduit which extends along the longitudinal axis of the passive overflow device and which conduit fluidly couples the inlet and the outlet; and a supporting structure for coupling the overflow device with the loading space of a hopper, wherein, the outlet section includes an flexible portion proximate the outlet for preventing mechanical overload to the supporting structure when the outlet, in use, in its active position accidently abuts the sea bottom.

Abstract: The invention relates to a rudder for maneuvering a ship-like object, the rudder comprising a main rudder blade having an upstream end and a downstream end, the rudder being rotatably mountable to the ship-like object around a rotation axis that generally extends in a vertical plane. The main rudder blade extends generally upright. The rudder comprises two generally upright extending auxiliary rudder blades connected to the main rudder blade by transverse plates. At least one of the transverse plates is oriented generally obliquely upwards towards a downstream end. The transverse plates thereby follow the orientation of the flow of water below the upwards receding aft body of the ship.

These components are separate units to be installed on deck and are units each having a frame (8,9,10) which can be installed disconnectably transversely over the hold (4) onto the coamings (5,6) of the vessel, a further frame (7) being possible carrying the drive unit for the dredging system, these frames (7,8,9,10) in case of a split hopper barge (1,2) being pivotably connected (11) to one coaming (6) and pivotably as well as movably in transverse direction (12,13) to the other coaming (5).

Abstract: The invention relates to a ship (1) with one or more derricks (4), in particular a dredge having at least one derrick (4) for handling the suction pipe (22) which derrick (4) can be moved between an inboard position (7) and a vertical position. The derrick has guiding tracks (8,9) for a crane jib (17) which tracks (8,9) in the vertical position of the derrick (4) are in line with guiding tracks (15,16) inside the profile of the side wall (3) of the ship. The cable for controlling the jib (17) is protected by a channel inside the profile of the ship side wall (3) between the latter guiding tracks (15,16). The guiding tracks (8,9,15,16) have upper and lower stops (29,28) for controlling the movements of the crane jib (17) which jib (17) is pivotable about a horizontal axis (18) between a position perpendicular to the derrick (4) and a downwardly directed position.
