Patent number: 11779371Abstract: Surgical delivery devices of the invention have a delivery shaft extending from a handle, with a deformable member such as a plate or a leaf at a distal portion of the shaft with a surface carrying an implant for orthopedic surgery. A trigger or lever on the device positions the deformable member between a first cylindrical configuration that can pass through a cannula used in arthroscopic surgery and a second, substantially flat configuration useful to place the implant on tissue during the arthroscopic surgery. Preferably the trigger may be operated to hold the deformable plate or leaf in any of a continuum of positions between the first cylindrical configuration and the second, substantially flat configuration.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2023Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: Expand Medical Ltd.Inventors: Arie Levy, Ofek Levin

Publication number: 20230225726Abstract: The invention provides a device for delivering surgical sutures. Significantly, the device is capable of delivering sutures of any size stitch width or stitch length. For minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic surgery or endoscopic surgery, the device allows for delivering sutures of a stitch width and depth that is not constrained by the diameter of the shaft of the instrument. Further, the device provides flexibility that improves the maneuverability and degrees of freedom in the range of motion in difficult-to-reach surgical sites. For example, devices of the invention provide for delivering sutures at an angle substantially offset from the axis of the instrument. This flexibility contributes to providing more secure sutures at a range of challenging surgical sites.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 12, 2023Publication date: July 20, 2023Inventors: Ofek Levin, Arie Levy, Lena Levin, Tom Assaf

Publication number: 20210267590Abstract: The invention provides a fastening device for laparoscopic hernia repair. The coordinated operation of two insertion members stabilizes a fastener during closure and locking to ensure that the fastener is locked in the intended location before the device releases from the fastener. One of the insertion members includes a pair of prongs that exhibit a closed configuration when they are disposed in a recess at an end of the fastener. The fastener has a hook at one end and a loop at the other end. The insertion members push the fastener out from the device and through the tissue. A curvature in at least one of the insertion members pushes the hook through the loop all while the prongs are in the recess in the fastener, thereby stabilizing the fastener with respect to the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2021Publication date: September 2, 2021Applicant: Via Surgical LTDInventors: Arie LEVY, Yehonatan LEVIN, Lena LEVIN, Ofek LEVIN

Patent number: 10182898Abstract: An instrument for deploying a surgical implant includes a handle, an elongated shaft extending from the handle, and a frame arm. The frame arm includes a clip pair for releasably attaching the surgical implant to the frame arm. The clip pair includes first and second clips operably coupled by a spring member. The first and second clips are repositionable from a closed position to an open position. The spring member biases the first and second clips towards the closed position. A lock bar is coupled to the frame arm and translatable between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the locked position, the lock bar maintains the first and second clips in either the open or the closed position. When the lock bar is in the unlocked position, the first and second clips are freely rotatable between the open and closed positions.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2016Date of Patent: January 22, 2019Assignee: Covidien LPInventors: Jason T. Publication number: 20180235605Abstract: The invention relates to tacking devices for use in minimally invasive surgery that have a quantity indicator on a distal end that can be seen through a scope and that show a number of fasteners remaining in the device. A surgeon can watch the delivery of fasteners while simultaneously seeing f a number of fasteners remaining. This allows a hernia mesh to be properly fixed into place without going astray during the delicate initial placement procedure and also for even spacing of the fasteners on the mesh. The patient's post-operative recovery progresses well, and excessive pain is avoided. Methods of the invention include viewing the surgical site via the scope while also viewing the indicator via the scope.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2018Publication date: August 23, 2018Inventors: Arie Levy, Lena Levin, Ofek Levin
