Patent number: 10275898Abstract: A combined video of a scene may be generated for applications such as virtual reality or augmented reality. In one method, a camera system may be oriented at a first orientation and used to capture first video of a first portion of the scene. The camera system may then be rotated to a second orientation and used to capture second video of a second portion of the scene that is offset from the first portion such that the first video and the second video each have an overlapping video portion depicting an overlapping portion of the scene in which the first portion and the second portion of the scene overlap with each other. The first and second portions may be combined together to generate the combined video, which may depict the first and second portions substantially without duplicative inclusion of the overlapping video portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2017Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: GOOGLE LLCInventors: Alex Song, Jonathan Frank, Julio C. Patent number: 9639945Abstract: An image such as a light-field image may be captured with a light-field image capture device with a microlens array. The image may be received in a data store along with a depth map that indicates depths at which objects in different portions of the image are disposed. A function may be applied to the depth map to generate a mask that defines a gradual transition between the different depths. An effect may be applied to the image through the use of the mask such that applicability of the effect is determined by the mask. A processed image may be generated. The first effect may be present in the processed image, as applied previously. The processed image may be displayed on a display device. If desired, multiple effects may be applied through the generation of multiple masks, depth maps, and/or intermediate images prior to generation of the processed image.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2015Date of Patent: May 2, 2017Assignee: Lytro, Inc.Inventors: Kent Oberheu, Colvin Pitts, Duane Petrovich, Ariel Braunstein

Patent number: 8649297Abstract: A method in one example implementation includes discovering a networking device within a wireless connectivity range from a first computing device. The networking device may be configured for wireless connectivity by sending new network configuration settings to the networking device to be stored in a memory element. The method also includes configuring the first computing device to initiate a wireless connection to the networking device, such that the wireless connection is created without requiring the user to provide any configuration settings associated with the wireless connection. In more specific embodiments, if it is determined that the networking device is unconfigured, then the new network configuration settings are automatically generated. In other more specific embodiments, the new network configuration settings include a new network identifier and a new network password.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2010Date of Patent: February 11, 2014Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Timothy F.
