  • Patent number: 9137813
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes circuitry configured to receive control information on a downlink control channel from a base station. The control information indicates an allocation of an uplink channel and the control information is sent in response to the base station determining that the UE is to send an adaptive modulation and coding report. The circuitry is further configured in response to the control information to transmit a communication in the allocated uplink channel in a time interval including at least one time slot. The communication includes an adaptive modulation and coding report, and a transmission power level of the communication is derived from the control information and a pathloss measured by the UE.

  • Publication number: 20150229970
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed facilitate differentiated QoS service for packets within a single packet stream. For example, extended QCI values may be used to differentiate service of video packets associated with different priorities. A flexible representation of QoS requirements/parameters is disclosed where QoS may be defined as a hyperspace that is a function of base QoS parameters. A WTRU may explicitly specify and/or request desired QoS parameters. A WTRU may be configured to perform one or more of video packet separation into a plurality of video packet sub-streams, merging of the video packet sub-streams, and/or reordering of the packets included in the video packet sub-streams. Techniques may be utilized to exposing more information to a data transmission network regarding the type of video packets (and/or other packets) being transmitted.

  • Patent number: 9066341
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptive uplink/downlink resource assignment may include determining uplink interference associated with each of several uplink resources. The method and apparatus may produce an uplink list with values for the uplink resources. The values may include one value indicating high interference and another value indicating low interference. The method and apparatus may compare a downlink power level to a threshold for each of the downlink resources and produce a downlink list indicating which of the downlink resources have a downlink power level which exceeds the threshold. Also, the method and apparatus may send the uplink list and downlink list. Further, the method and apparatus may receive an uplink list and a downlink list from each of several neighboring wireless network devices. The method and apparatus may assign uplink and downlink resources to a user equipment based on the uplink and downlink lists received.

  • Publication number: 20150009930
Abstract: HARQ parameters (e.g., maximum HARQ retransmission values) may be adapted. Cross-layer control and/or logical channel control may be used to select a maximum number of HARQ retransmissions, for example based on packet priority and/or QCI values. Respective priorities of video packets may be used to select one of a plurality of logical channels associated with a video application that may be established at a source wireless hop and/or a destination wireless hop. The logical channels have different HARQ characteristics. Different maximum HARQ retransmission values may be determined for select logical channels, for example such that packets of different priorities may be transmitted over different logical channels. One or more of the channels may be associated with one or more transmission queues that may have different priority designations. Video packets may be reordered (e.g., with respect to transmission order) within the transmission queues, for example in accordance with respective HARQ parameters.

  • Publication number: 20150009826
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems for performing hierarchical traffic differentiation and/or employing hierarchical traffic differentiation are provided. These methods, apparatuses and systems may be implemented to, for example, handle congestion and/or to manage user quality of experience (QoE). Performing the hierarchical traffic differentiation may include differentiating or otherwise classifying (collectively “differentiating”) traffic mapped to, or within, a bearer formed in accordance with a QoS class into multiple traffic sub-classes. Employing the hierarchical traffic differentiation may include scheduling and/or policing (e.g., filtering) the differentiated traffic for transmission based on a prioritization of, and/or policy for managing, the multiple traffic sub-classes.

  • Patent number: 8842644
Abstract: A method of adaptive uplink/downlink timeslot assignment includes determining at least one of a potentially interfering cell which potentially interferes with a particular cell. A timeslot for uplink communication is eliminated, if a first one of the potentially interfering cells uses that timeslot for downlink communications. A timeslot for downlink communication is eliminated if a dynamic interference measurement in that timeslot as measured by most users exceeds a predetermined threshold and if a dynamic interference measurement in that timeslot does not exceed the predetermined threshold for most users but exceeds the predetermined threshold for at least one user. A timeslot is assigned to an uplink communication of the particular cell using non-uplink eliminated timeslots, and a timeslot is assigned to a downlink communication of the particular cell to each user using non-downlink eliminated timeslots with respect to that user.
