A display module in a TV receiver includes a display panel, an optical sheet group, a light guide plate, a chassis, a panel holding member and a bezel. At the middle part of the lower side portion of the optical sheet group, a latch hole is formed. At a portion of the bottom part of the chassis, which is opposed to the latch hole, is provided with a projecting part formed to have a cylindrical main body and a latch projection continuously formed from the main body with a cylindrical shape having a diameter smaller than that of the main body.

    Abstract: A lighting device used as a backlight of a display apparatus includes multiple light guide plates, and a light source located near an entrance edge of each light guide plate to emit light. A gap is provided between the light guide plates, and the position of the entrance edge is fixed among the edges of the light guide plate. If the light guide plates are expanded in accordance with a change in temperature or humidity, the entrance edge do not move while the light guide plates are expanded so as to approach each other. Since the light guide plate does not hit the light source and the amount of expansion of the light guide plates is absorbed into the gap, the light source may be arranged as close as possible to the entrance edge of the light guide plate in the lighting device.

    Abstract: Provided are an illumination device and a display device capable of even illumination. A positioning recess provided in a light guide plate and a peripheral portion of the recess are covered by a cover from one surface side of the light guide plate. As a result, the cover suppresses the emission of light emitted from the vicinity of the recess on the one surface of the light guide plate onto the outside of a backlight unit that functions as an illumination device. Thus, even if light is scattered at the recess of the light guide plate and the brightness of the vicinity of the recess is greater than the brightness of other portions, the leaking of excessively bright light onto the outside of the backlight unit (in this case, onto the display panel side) is suppressed. That is, brightness unevenness caused by the recess of the light guide plate is suppressed.
