    Abstract: What is disclosed is a system and method for detecting a folded page in a digital image of a scanned document. In one embodiment, the present method involves receiving a digital image of a document which has been converted to a digitized form using a document scanning device. The digital image is segmented horizontally and vertically to obtain a plurality of image segments. An edge profile is generated for the horizontal and vertical segments. A determination is then made, based on a comparison of the profiles, whether a page fold exists in the digital image. If a page fold is determined to exist in the digital image, the user is notified and the digital image is not sent to a print engine. Otherwise, the digital image is printed.

    Abstract: According to exemplary methods, a print job is received into a computerized device that includes a marking device. The print job specifies an imposition template defining multiple logical pages for a single sheet of print media according to an electronic document. The print job attributes also contain a first print colorant order and a different second print colorant order. Groups of logical pages are defined for each print colorant order, and buffers are created in which raster data associated with each group of logical pages are merged and untouched pixels are marked as negative pixels. The information from each buffer is printed on a single sheet of print media. Following printing of each buffer, the sheet of print media is returned to the marking device, so that information from the next buffer can be printed on the same side of the sheet of print media, using the marking device.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for rendering an image. In an example embodiment, a step or operation can be implemented to pre-render white objects in an image with a background image set to a single complementary color. Such a single complimentary color assists in obtaining the textual content only from the complex background. A connected component analysis can be performed with respect to said image to identify elements in said images that should be rendered as objects composed of text and graphics. Tags are then assigned for final rendering of the image after performing said component analysis with respect to said image. Modification of tag values with respect to said images avoids unwanted artifacts such as, for example, bleed through, background closing, ghost effects, etc.

    Abstract: Methods and devices to improve the quality of graphics objects based on adaptive stroke thickening are disclosed. The method includes receiving a graphics object having at least one stroke. The graphics object is represented within an object window made of a plurality of cells. The method further includes identifying a fill region being defined by the stroke. Both the fill region and the stroke are represented by a group of cells. The identified fill region is tagged using a predefined flag indicating a tagged fill region or any its attributes. The stroke is strengthened unidirectionally away from the tagged fill region, where a stroke color associated with the stroke being strengthened is replaced by an adapted color provided the stroke color is same as a background color associated with a background, which is a part of the object window.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for generating one or more cut contours based on object types. The method includes receiving from a user a print job including a first file having objects and receiving at least one object type and a cut width for printing the job at a printer. Based on the at least one object type, corresponding objects are extracted from the first file. Then, automatically cut contours are generated while creating a raster image for the extracted objects. The cut contour is generated at the cut width distance outside a boundary of each object. The cut contour then is embedded around each object in the raster image to generate a second file. The cut contour is embedded using a specific color. The second file including the cut contour in the specific color around each object is printed.

The stroke color and the fill color are compared with a background color of a third cell associated with a background according to a predefined condition, where the first cell, the second cell, and the third cell are linearly adjacent to each other. Based on the comparison, an adapted color being different from the background color of the third cell is selected to adaptively strengthen the first cell, which is associated with the stroke, away from the fill region.

According to the methods and systems, multi-layer reversible data hiding process may be implemented in two stages. The first stage provides embedding of the sensitive data on a secret layer and hiding the secret layer behind single or multiple layers for secure transmission for intended recipient. Subsequently, the second stage is concerned about retrieving or extracting the hidden sensitive data through proper authentication. In the extraction process, the recipient needs to provide the right authentication code for each of embedded layer in order to reach to the secret layer. Upon unsuccessful authentication of any embedded layer, the proposed method enables an intelligent security technique termed as SMART (Suspect Malicious Activity on Rich Tract), which ensures to protect the sensitive data by suspecting the attempts of theft and intrusion.

    Abstract: Disclosed are printing devices and methods that accommodate the use of multiple different output color modes and, thereby multiple different output color profiles and that support user selection of any of the profiles for printing different logical pages on a single print surface. Consequently, they do not require a user to trade off between a desire to achieve a particular result in an image on one logical page, wherein the particular result is only achievable with an extended gamut profile, and a desire to avoid the higher cost associated with unnecessarily using the extended gamut profile to print a different image on a different logical page on the same print surface. Thus, the printing devices and methods provide for rendering of both standard and enhanced quality images on the same print surface in accordance with user selections and for minimizing costs associated with printing (e.g., due to excessive colorant usage).
