  • Patent number: 4033808
Abstract: A system for the production of large-diameter hollow bodies from a thermoplastic synthetic resin in which a synthetic-resin hollow-profile strip is extruded and coiled helically so that adjacent turns of the helix are butt-welded together at least in part with the extrusion heat. The synthetic-resin hollow-profile strip has a generally rectangular external cross-section and a substantially round inner cross-section (of the passage) and a cooling fluid is introduced into this passage upon extrusion, and is circulated through the passage at least over a portion of a turn of the helix.
