  • Patent number: 11918325
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for measurement of pulse wave velocity of a vessel. An intravascular device comprises a first and a second marker provided at different locations along the length of the intravascular device of which positions are localizable by a tracking apparatus. The intravascular device provides plurality of measurements along the length of the vessel, while the intravascular device is moved from a first position to a second position, corresponding to a first and a second time. At the second time the position of the first marker in the vessel corresponds to the position of the second marker at the first time. The pulse wave velocity value of the vessel is ascertained based on measurements associated for the first time and the second time from the plurality of measurements and based on the distance between the locations of the two markers along the length of the intravascular device.

  • Patent number: 11896422
Abstract: The invention provides a system and a method for calculating a pulse wave velocity based on a plurality of intravascular ultrasonic pulses directed along a vessel. For each ultrasonic pulse, a plurality of echoes is received from a plurality of distances along the vessel. A first ultrasound Doppler signal is received from a first distance from the pulse origin and a second ultrasound Doppler signal from a second distance from the pulse origin. A first and second flow velocity metric is obtained based on the first and second ultrasound Doppler signal, respectively. The pulse wave velocity is calculated based on the time delay, which is based on the first flow velocity metric and the second flow velocity metric.

  • Publication number: 20230355197
Abstract: The invention provides a processor for use in a system for obtaining a blood flow velocity measurement based on an angiogram obtained from a subject. The angiogram is representative of a vessel including a contrast agent therein, and wherein the contrast agent has been provided to the vessel in bursts at a given average frequency, thereby providing contrast data within the angiogram. The processor generates a velocity curve representing the blood flow velocity within the vessel over the cardiac cycle based on an estimated period of the cardiac cycle, an estimated instantaneous blood flow velocity of each angiogram image frame, a calculated confidence value of each angiogram image frame and the estimated point within the cardiac cycle represented by each angiogram image frame.

  • Publication number: 20230233168
Abstract: A system includes a processor circuit configured to receive a set of intravascular data from an intravascular sensor at a first location within a blood vessel. The processor circuit simultaneously receives a set of cardiovascular data from a heart monitor. After the intravascular sensor is moved from the first location to a second location, the processor circuit receives an additional set of intravascular data from the intravascular sensor and an additional set of cardiovascular data from the heart monitor. The processor circuit then determines a distance between the first location and the second location and determines a pulse wave velocity associated with the blood flow within the blood vessel based on the sets of intravascular data, the sets of cardiovascular data, and the distance. The processor circuit then outputs the pulse wave velocity to a display.
