    Abstract: A program product that includes an authentication system and a method for processing a medical order from a health practitioner is disclosed. The program product comprises an interoperable medical code containing a plurality of identifiers of information regarding the medical order. The identifiers are grouped into modules representing at least a practitioner identifier module, a patient identifier module, a medical requisition identifier module, a patient clinical information module and an order timestamp. The system further authenticates the interoperable medical code and generates the medical order from the interoperable medical code.
