Abstract: An animal resistant dumpster is described. Embodiments of the animal resistant dumpster include a lid rotatably coupled to a refuse container. The lid can be locked in a closed position by a pair of rotatable hooks. To open the lid, and empty the refuse container, the rotatable hooks can be disengaged by rotating the dumpster past parallel allowing the hooks to rotate due to gravity. The lid can include a pair of slidable doors to dispose of refuse into the refuse container.
