  • Publication number: 20030217421
Abstract: A foam generating system utilizes a positive displacement pump to deliver liquid at a substantially constant liquid delivery rate to a foam generator. The liquid delivery rate is independent the pressure of air supplied by a pressurized air source to the foam generator, the back pressure of the foam generator itself, the volume of liquid in a supply tank, and the pressure drop of the connection line from the foam generator to a user appliance. The foam generator delivers foam at a constant foam delivery rate (expressed as weight of foam per unit time) to the user appliance. The liquid supply tank is vented to atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 6367109
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a floor surface having weight support members thereon for carrying the weight of the apparatus into the floor surface includes a brush having a baseplate with an array of bristles. The brush has a plurality of supply passages, each of which communicates with a portion of the bristle array. The brush is loosely attached by a flexible torque transmitting coupling to the shaft for rotation about a centerline of rotation. The brush is attached to a motor shaft in such a way that, in use, the brush is responsive to irregularities in the floor surface as the apparatus is moved thereover by moving in a direction generally parallel to a centerline of rotation and/or in a plane generally perpendicular thereto. A baffle mounted to the top surface of the brush so as to surround the supply passages. In use, a foam cleaning agent is dispensed onto a location on the top surface of the brush inwardly of the supply passages.

  • Patent number: 6145145
Abstract: Apparatus for agitating a cleaning agent into a carpet comprises a housing within which a first and a second roller are each mounted for rotation in a first angular direction. A platen is mounted intermediate the rollers. A belt agitator comprising a fabric substrate having a pile surface is trained about the first and second rollers and extends under the platen. The rollers the platen support rectilinear movement of the belt agitator in the first direction to bring a portion of its surface sequentially from a first position within the housing to a contacting position in which the portion of the surface is in agitating contact with a carpet and, thereafter, to a second position within the housing.

  • Patent number: 6052854
Abstract: A fluid distribution device for distributing cleaning fluid to the floor surface comprises a hollow tube extender attached to a hollow fixed shaft. A hub assembly having a plurality of hollow open-ended spokes is rotatably mounted to the tube extender. If used with a brush floor cleaning apparatus a portion of each spoke extends into and terminates within a radial passage in the brush.

  • Patent number: 6029310
Abstract: A wand for cleaning a carpeted stair tread includes a vacuum tube and a plurality of partitions attached thereto. The vacuum tube and the partitions cooperate to define a central channel and a pair of generally enclosed lateral channels. A nozzle bar for dispensing a liquid cleaning material extends through the central channel. The lateral channels extend in side-by-side relationship with the central channel. Each lateral channel is open along the bottom edge thereof to define a vacuum slot. Each of the lateral channels communicates with the vacuum tube through a respective opening formed in the vacuum tube. The wand may also include an elongated operating handle. Preferably the handle is attached to the wand such that the axis of the handle is substantially parallel to the axis of the wand. The wand includes a nose piece having a central channel and a pair of generally enclosed lateral channels that extend side-by-side relationship with the central channel.
