Abstract: In one embodiment, a moisture removal apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a housing having a top and bottom surface, an outer side wall surrounding a drying zone, the drying zone for receiving a moisture-absorbent material. The moisture absorbent material may include a hygroscopic material, in one non-limiting embodiment. The apparatus may further include a fluid path in fluid communication with at least a portion of the bottom surface and the drying zone, and a movable lid portion for disposal over the drying zone. When the lid is disposed over the drying zone, access to the drying zone occurs via the fluid path from the bottom surface of the housing, such that fluid enters the housing from beneath the housing through the fluid path and is received in the drying zone, wherein moisture is absorbed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides an eyewear device for wearing on the face of a user. The device includes a frame body with an interior portion, a front side, a rear side, a top portion and a bottom portion. The frame body also includes a first lateral appendage, a second lateral appendage, a first top lateral hingepoint and a first bottom lateral hingepoint, a second top lateral hingepoint and a second bottom lateral hingepoint. The frame body additionally includes a first distal side and a second distal side. The frame contacts the face of the user on the rear side, except at the first and second distal sides. When the hingepoints of the frame body are engaged, the first and second lateral appendages are rotatable toward said front side of the frame body.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are protective eyewear device embodiments that enable lateral access to the eye while at the same time shielding the eye from other directions. The protective eyewear device embodiments are particularly suitable for water activities as they allow air flow between the user and the device, thereby avoiding fogging of the lens. As water eventually enters in between the user and the device, which ultimately interferes with the eyes of the user, the user can wipe the eyes via the lateral access without actually having to remove the protective eyewear device.
