  • Patent number: 6910826
Abstract: A breakaway coupling for a light pole or the like is disclosed and is utilized on each of the anchor bolts of the foundation for the pole. Each of the couplings comprises a metal coupling nut which has a plurality of radially spaced-apart and vertically disposed slits formed therein which extend thereinto to create weakened areas or zones in the coupling nut. The coupling nut is embedded in a fiber-reinforced material which provides the necessary hoop strength to the coupling nut. The base plate of the pole is positioned on the upper ends of the coupling nuts and is secured thereto by bolts extending downwardly through the base plate of the pole. If the pole is struck by a vehicle, the fiber-reinforced body members, as well as the coupling nuts, fracture to permit the pole to break away from the foundation. The fiber-reinforced body member of the coupling not only adds hoop strength to the coupling nut, but prevents the metal coupling nut from being exposed to corrosive elements such as salt or the like.

  • Patent number: 6712330
Abstract: A support pole including a base having a hollow shaft secured thereto. The base is attached to the footing and includes a plate portion having a generally cylindrical portion extending upwardly therefrom. The bottom surface of the plate portion has a cut-out portion formed therein which communicates with the central opening formed in the base. A hollow shaft is inserted into the central opening in the base so that the lower end thereof is substantially flush with the bottom surface of the plate portion. The shaft is secured to the base by a weldment in the cut-away portion. The shaft is also secured to the base by means of an enlarged diameter portion or protrusion formed in the shaft immediately above the upper end of the base. The base may also be comprised of a flat plate portion without the cylindrical portion. Further, the base may have a square portion extending upwardly therefrom to accommodate a square pole. If a square pole is being used, the central opening in the base plate will be square.

  • Patent number: 6612088
Abstract: An antenna support for a power transmission tower having a vertically disposed mast extending upwardly through the tower with the antenna support being mounted on the upper end of the mast. The weight of antenna support is transferred to the legs of the tower rather than to the mast through the use of support bracing extending between the elongated pipe and the tower. An antenna platform is mounted on the upper end of the mast with the weight thereof being supported by the elongated pipe. The platform is comprised of three triangular-shaped platform sections having mounting rings at the inner ends thereof which are slipped over the upper end of the mast with the lowermost mounting ring resting upon the upper end of the elongated pipe. The antenna support may be mounted on a cellular transmitting/receiving tower or on a guy-wired mast.

  • Patent number: 6405991
Abstract: A support pole including a baseplate attached to a footing and having a central opening formed therein. A hollow shaft has its lower end received by the central opening in the baseplate. The lower end of the shaft is shaped to provide one or more deformations which facilitate the shaft to baseplate connection.
